At our Annual General Meeting in 2019, we were privileged to have two great speakers Geoff Doherty and Caylie Jeffrey. We also had the opportunity to honour one of our hard working members Gloria Glass with life membership.

It's just unbelievable how busy we seem to be lately. Doesn't give me much time to post anything on facebook. However, we've now held our thank you to volunteers lunch and have honoured one of our hardest working volunteers with Life Membership. Here's Ken Stephen after receiving his award. Ken spends usually 3 days a week at the library indexing the Toowoomba Chronicle which is presently indexed to 1990. Well done Ken.

I'm sad to report that Toowoomba has lost one of its well known historians John Clements. For many years he conducted walks around the city and in the cemeteries. He produced a number of publications on local history including Toowoomba's Hotel History. As the Grand Hotel has been mentioned in one of our visitor posts I have included the information contained in John's publication in this post. This is a potted history of the hotel. John was a valued member of the Toowoomba & Darling Downs Family History Society and will be sadly missed.

Did you do scholarship year at Toowoomba North State School in 1959. If so, please let us know. Some of the students have just begun to organise a reunion for next year which of course will be 60 years since some of you would have seen each other. You can email tddfhs452@yahoo.com.au if you are interested and we will pass on your information. The committee is also looking for photographs. This is one of the whole class.
