This is where a lot of people get stuck.

They see these experiences from people online, where they're having these big "trauma releases" at big group events & being held by strangers while they scream & cry & think that must be what I need.

But what they don't show is how people are afterwards & a few weeks later. Why? Because that doesnt make good social media.

Then people see them & starting trying to heal trauma, rewire beliefs, or “do the inner work” while their nervous system is still in survival mode. They haven't done the ground work.

And then they wonder why nothing sticks.

Here’s the truth: You cannot heal what your body still feels unsafe holding.

A dysregulated nervous system will:
🤦‍♀️ override logic
🤦‍♀️ resist change
🤦‍♀️ pull you back into old patterns
🤦‍♀️ make even “good” things feel overwhelming

Regulation isn’t optional.
It’s not a luxury.
It’s the order of healing.

This is why at AMHH we start with nervous system regulation,
before deeper emotional or identity work.

Because when your body feels safe,
your healing finally has somewhere to land.

You're not broken, you're disreulated & you need to stop punishing yourself for it.

Women don’t need more motivation.
They don’t need another strategy.
They don’t need to “try harder.”

They need their nervous system to calm the f*ck down.

When your system is dysregulated:
• everything feels urgent
• your tolerance drops
• your brain goes foggy
• your body stays tense
• rest doesn’t actually rest you

And then you blame yourself for it.

But this isn’t a personal failure.
It’s a physiological response to being too on for too long.

This is why healing doesn’t start in the mind.
It starts in the body.

With safety. With regulation. With slowing the system down enough to receive support.

Most mums aren’t lazy.
They’re not disorganised.
They’re carrying too much

Too many decisions.
Too many emotional responsibilities.
Too much mental load.
Too little nervous system support.

When your body has been in survival mode for years, it doesn’t matter how much you “want” to rest, your system doesn’t know how anymore.

So you freeze.
You snap.
You shut down.
You feel overwhelmed by simple things.

& then you tell yourself you should be coping better.

Here’s the truth:
This isn’t a mindset issue.
It’s a nervous system one.

Healing doesn’t start with doing more.
It starts with your body feeling safe enough to let go.

If you want your kids to know their worth, stop modelling the behaviours that bury yours.

Because they’re watching.
Not with the expectation that you'll be perfect, but because they are learning from what you model for them.

They study how you move through the world, as a guide to how they should move through theirs.

So if you want them to know they're worth instead of having to discover it in adulthood like we have, this list is where to start. Save it for later when you need a reminder.

⛔️ Stop punishing yourself for not being enough for people who don't matter.

⛔️ Stop trying to live up to the expectations of people on a different life path to you.

⛔️ Stop saying yes to things that don't feel right just because you "should."

⛔️ Stop saying yes to things you don't give a f**k about.

⛔️ Stop overgiving to people who don't appreciate you or your efforts.

⛔️ Stop expecting you from people & being disappointed because they are never going to change.

⛔️ Stop taking things personally from people. Accept who they are & move on.

⛔️ Stop choosing their opinions over your own feelings & understanding.

⛔️ Stop shrinking yourself to be the “easy one” in every room.

⛔️ Stop abandoning your own needs because it feels quicker to just push through.

They learn self-respect from watching you choose yourself, not from watching you run yourself dry trying the please everyone else.

These are the habits that end here.
For you.
For them.
For the future you’re quietly building every day.

You were probably raised on achievement & sacrifice.

Taught that your value is based on what you can do for others.

That wanting things for yourself is selfish & the best thing you can be is selfless, having no needs yourself.

Maybe you've been let down over & over so learned that it was safer to do it yourslef & not rely on anyone.

You became super independent, refusing to ask for help well after you probably should have.

It usually isn't until you really fall apart that anyone even realises you weren't ok & it comes as massive surprise to everyone.

Honestly uou are probably so out of touch with your own needs you don't even know what you want.

But you aren't alone.

There are a lot of us out there, working to get better.

Better at asking for help, better at taking selfcare time.

Healing those wounded stories & choosing new ones to pass onto our kids, because this is not a cycle we want to repeat.

So if this post feels maybe a little too targetted...

Buckle up!

Because this is the space for you & it isn't always going to be pretty.

You've made 50billion decisions today already.

From what tonserve the kids, to how to approach problems at work & which way to head home to avoid traffic as much as possible.

& then comes that moment.

You get home & your partner asks "what shall we do for dinner?"

💥 everything shuts down.

You have no answer, youbmuggt be able to give a nah don't want that but generally it is something along the lines of "whatever I don't mind"

Except it isn't that you don't know. It is that you literally can't make another decision because you are tapped out.

You're over stimulated, overwhelmed & probably overworked on all fronts.

& that's the problem when it comes to healing & selfcare places. You know you need something for yourself now & then but when you go to book theres so many options, & they all sound divine. So you go "I'll decide later" & then you don't.

Sound familiar?

I know it does to me.

Something has to change & I'll help on my end.

You've been going along carrying all the old stories & patterns.

Trying to hold desperately onto that old identity evem though it doesn't really fit anymore.

It's uncomfortable, & it doesn't feel right anymore but who will you be if you let it go & step into the new version of you coming through?

Answer - someone who has grown, learned & experienced things. Someone who chooses to be the best version of themselves instead of the safe version.

With this philosophy in mind, I am making some changes in Alana Marie Holistic Healing & they're big.

Because I have been holding onto the old way of doing things for so long & it doesn't work for me anymore. It doesn't feel true to my vision, my goals or the people I am trying to serve.

I'm talking more focused on Holistic treatments that don't just bandaid problems but hit physically, mentally, emotionally & assist with Embodied long term healing.

I'm talking less "menu" when you are booking & more focused on the transformation you want.

A clear pathway to really go from back pain to bad*ss no matter where you are starting from.

I'm talking working with women who are ready to do the work for themselves not just a quick fix. Who are looking to truly invest in themselves & the future generations.

So as we come to the end of spring, I'm finally doing a "spring clean" & maybe you should too.

Feeling the need to rest this week myself.

But no in all seriousness, there has been a push for a long time about us doing it all. As parents, as mums, outbthere working, then coming home to cook & provide, being partners, keeping the house together, ferrying children to activities & making time for friends & parents when they need us.

As we come into christmas we are expected to have it all together, all balanced, presents sorted, dishes made for family gatherings, attending all the events.

Consider this as your reminder to take a break when you need to. Ask for help so you can take a nap. Say no when it feels right. Make sure you take time for you & do the things that are going to keep you at your best.

You don't have to do it all.

Who loves a scalding hot shower?

How about a side of nervous system regulation with that?

Women's bodies respond better to heat than cold when it comes to nervous system regulation.

If you are always woman who finds herself often teetering on the edge of fight/flight/freeze, do not do ice baths, it will be some much worse for your system.

Instead try relaxing in a warm space, sauna, spa bath, steam room, all great options.

Even just doing a hot foot bath at home.can work wonders.

In terms of hot/cold contrast therapy, the most you probably want to do it a bit of cold water at the end of your shower.
