D E A D L Y T U K K A 🦘✨

An exciting announcement that I’ve been holding onto for the past 4 months!

After my community placement with the Ngarrang Gulinjal Boordup team at EACH, I just wanted more! I wanted to part of their team and their amazing mission to reach and nurture all indigenous kids in our community.

Vanessa, their health promotion officer, so kindly took me on and we collaborated to design this Deadly Tukka Nutritional Program. We launched in July this year and this week we just started our 3rd school program!!!

I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing program and seeing the impact it has on the community including learning, connection and nourishment. To see kids flourishing and trying their cultural foods and spices truly warms my heart!

Thank you thank you so much to Vanessa, the team at EACH, Knox Council and the schools for having me. I can’t WAIT to see where this takes off to and spreading knowledge and awareness around nutrition and health to all indigenous people. Stay tuned! ❤️💛🖤

🌟Yesterday I went down to to speak about all things nutrition, health and wellbeing 🌟

We discussed the Healthy Yu approach and how we look at the person as a whole, especially the relationship between mind and body, how to get back to intuitive eating and tips for having balanced meals and setting goals 🥊

Thank you to all those that stayed after training or came early to join in. Thanks for welcoming me, participating and asking lots of awesome questions! I also had fun working out in the training afterwards and got a good sweat on! 💪🏼

If you or your organisation are ready to kick some health goals and are interested in having a presentation like this, please get in touch now! 💬

🙏🏼✨ What are you doing to show yourself love and compassion?

When we think of ourselves highly and love ourselves deeply, we are more likely to take care of ourselves. This includes providing our bodies with nourishing foods, moving our bodies, taking ourselves on a nice date, doing something creative and pampering ourselves.

Providing yourself with wholesome nourishing foods can be one of the biggest acts of self love. And as a byproduct it can improve our energy levels, our sleep, our mental wellbeing, our physical health and so much more!

Nourishing our bodies means eating enough food to supply energy to all our cells, it means providing all the essential vitamins and minerals so our bodies can build and repair itself, sometimes it might even mean eating for comfort. It is about listening to our hunger cues and fullness cues, and most of all it’s to fuel our minds and bodies for optimal function.

So what are you going to do for yourself this week? ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Throw-together-whatever-is-available-in-the-kitchen salads are my favourite! 😍

To be honest, they usually work. Sometimes they don’t. But I’ve learnt to develop an intuition with what tastes I like and what basics go together. And if I’m unsure I’ll search up some inspo online.

The main thing is I always try and balance out my meal with protein, carbs and veggies plus some healthy fat to keep me feeling fuller for longer.

My partner also loves my experimental salads. And if we both like it I always jot it down in a note on my phone so I can remake it in future.

What have you randomly created in the kitchen lately? I would love to try it! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

We had some leftover chicken skewers from dinner last night so I thought I’d throw together a nutritious, filling salad for lunch today. Recipe below.

Salad:
• Kale destalked and chopped
• Avocado 1/2 sliced
• Chicken skewers chopped into pieces
• Red onion 1/2 finely sliced
• A few cubes of feta (marinated in oil)
• Handful of crushed walnuts
• Sprinkle of pepita seeds
• Chilli flakes, paprika and salt to taste

Sauce:
• Lemon juice
• Mayonnaise
• Mustard
• Olive oil
• Vinegar

Mix altogether and serve!

Let me know if you make a leftover bbq food salad! 💛

Have some left over roast veggies? 🤷🏼‍♀️
Turn it into a quick throw together lunch!
I used ready cooked black and white rice, sautéed some greens and pan fried up some chickpeas in spices (paprika, turmeric, cumin, garam masala, chilli flakes, garlic powder and some salt). Toss together with roast veggies and serve!
100% delicious and nutritious!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: new website, I repeat, new website!!! ✨✨✨

Something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. Making the website feel more like me. Less about me, but more about me…. If you’re catching on.

This cover photo on the website was taken by me in 2016, when I embarked on my first solo trip overseas. It was after an emotionally exhausting time in my life, where I felt like I had completely lost myself and who I was as a person. This trip, and more significantly, this location allowed me to find myself again. For the first time in a long time I felt like I could breathe again. Be me. Truly me. And I felt so alive!

The quote ‘rise above’ is a tribute to my late Aunty, who spoke to me about climbing the mountain (of life) on her death bed. That the view on top would be worth all the hardships and struggles she went through. To this day I honour her with the phrase rise above, because in every challenging moment, I tell myself to rise above that challenge, to rise above the negative energy infront of me. To remind myself I am elevating to the top of the mountain every time I let go of fear, judgement, anger and ego.

And this is my oath to my clients. To help each other rise above it all. Above the pain and the negativity. To elevate our minds, bodies and most importantly, our souls to reach emotional freedom. To be the truest, healthiest YU!

The year is coming to an end. A year of retreating, regenerating, learning, experiencing and transforming. This year I became a dietitian. I travelled the world and got engaged. I continued my journey of finding myself as I enter into a new era of my life.

This year my confidence as a professional hit rock bottom. I graduated mid year and there was no more excuses. It was time to launch into the real world. But I was scared. I procrastinated. I distracted myself with life things. I took the necessary time to rekindle my energy. Find who I am. Do this authentically. I could’ve relaunched too early, found any job that I would eventually be miserable in. But I chose to wait. Because my passion, my vision and my dreams are ahead of me. I just have to show up.

So here I am. The new year coming. And I’m ready to show up. Hair and makeup not done, no worries. Not basing everything on science but sometimes intuition, no worries. I’m just going to show up. On the good days and the bad. To share what’s real for me and therefore most likely what’s real for you. I’m here to build a safe space for sharing, for authenticity and connection. Because that’s all I need. Connection with you all, and us all helping each other to be kinder, filled with love and showing up for ourselves.

It starts here. The new era for Healthy Yu. It’s time and I’m ready…!

Some food inspo for you on a Friday afternoon 📸

I don’t know what it is about Vietnamese food, but it makes me drool!!! 🤤

This is the vermicelli noodle salad and I use my dietitian-eye to check if I’ve got a balanced meal:
• The base is mung bean vermicelli noodles for my carbohydrates. This takes up around a quarter of the plate.
• For protein I made some lemongrass chicken. This should also be about a quarter of the plate.
• For veg I have lettuce, cucumber and carrot, which takes up about half the plate.
• For healthy fats I cooked my chicken in olive oil.
• I also added a couple of mini veggie spring rolls for a little something extra.
• Lastly thank you to for the nuoc mam sauce which is added (generously) on top. The sauce completely makes the dish! Yummmmm!

Overall a yummy, satisfied belly over here! ☀️

I’d love to know what you had for lunch today in the comments for some inspiration for next week! ⬇️

💍20.08.22 Paros, Greece.

Aside from completing my masters, this is another reason why I’ve been quiet. ❤️

My twin soul proposed to me in his home country over 15,000kms away from where I was born. We travelled around Greece and I met Evan’s family in the little hometown where he grew up. He then proposed in our last destination on this beautiful Greek island!

I have been in a love bubble getting all the wedding planning underway, but in all that planning I’ve found inspiration for Healthy Yu (there’s something about mountains and water that captivate my soul! - anyone else the same?)

In this time I’ve also thought about who I am as a clinician and what I want to do in my life. How best to align and honour my purpose. My life has been an amazing journey to remembering who I am, to find my deepest authentic self. Now I want to be able to share my journey and learnings with you all. From how I healed my heart and found true love to how I am nourishing my brain and my body.

Thank you for sharing this journey with me. One that continues each day and will for my whole life ahead.

Stay tuned…. ✨

Hello 👋🏼 to my new followers and to all those that have come along the journey. The whole fam ☀️

I am back! ✨
I am ready!
I can’t wait to relaunch and share everything I’ve been up to the last couple of years.
It’s sure been a long journey but I have made so many new friends and new discoveries about myself!
I feel so grateful to have you all in my corner. All the support along the way.

Stay tuned as we step into 2023 with a revived vision and vibe together… to become full, nourished souls 💫

Much love to you all

I am now officially a counsellor AND
a D I E T I T I A N ! 🎓✨

I recently graduated from my Master of Dietetics at Deakin University along with my amazing peers! It was the most enriching experience these last 18 months and I’m excited to start spreading my new found knowledge and expertise with the world! This has been a long dream of mine to complete my mastery in both psychology and nutrition disciplines and combining the two together. As we know, the mind and body are so interconnected and I wanted to have the most holistic, integrated approach with those I’m helping. I have experience working with women, mental health conditions and emotional relationships with food. I find these areas really fascinating and prevalent, something many of us experience ourselves.

I am committed to enriching the lives of all those around me, building a community of kindred spirits and cultivating a tribe that brings out the absolute best in one another. I am committed to helping people learn about themselves, acknowledge their trauma and understand how that may impact on their health and lifestyle. I am going to walk along this journey of awakening with you all, seeking every day to align with my authentic self, to be the best clinician I can be and help those that are attracted to my energy. Stay tuned! I can’t wait! ☀️🦋🌻
