Introducing one of our team members, Steph, who works in our wonderful catering department.
Tell us a bit about your background and day to day experiences-
I have a strong passion for providing care and findness for others, which lead me to pursue a career in Aged Care. I am to create a safe, comfortable and positive environment every day, building bonds with our beautiful residents. My typical day involves providing meals, offering companionship and ensuring each person is treated with dignity and kindness.
Why did you choose Aged Care as your chosen career?
I wanted a career where I could make a real difference in someone's life. Working at Holmwood Aged Care inspired me to change my whole career path to begin my nursing journey next year. I am so grateful for the experiences Holmwood has given me.
What does nursing mean to you?
To me, aged care meant more than just physical support. It's about offering compassion, respect and emotional connection in the later stages of life. Aged Care is about taking the time to understand people's individual needs, their history, preference, etc. it's a privilege to be trusted with that responsibility.
What do you enjoy most about working at Holmwood Aged Care?
I enjoy the interactions with residents the most, we have an amazing sense of community and meaningful connections that I've built with the residents and with the team.
What is the most special aged care memory?
Every single morning without fail I receive the warmest and kindest greeting by one of our residents, Joan, a gorgeous lady here,. She never fails to make me smile, ask me about school and make me feel like family.
What is next for you?
I am soon to pursue my nursing career thanks to my experiences at Holmwood Aged Care.
