How often do you just focus on one thing?

Let’s talk mindfulness. Mindfulness is the act of paying attention and observing your experience with no interpretation or judgement. It’s like hitting the pause button and being acutely aware of that present moment, staying focused and not drifting away into past or thinking forward to future.

It sounds exaggerated but it is rare thing for people these days to simply be in the present moment without pondering the past or planning the next move.

Why is mindfulness important?

Practicing mindfulness has been shown to actually reduce levels of cortisol in the body which in turn can positively impact those with anxiety or heightened stress levels. It can lower blood pressure, assist with pain sensitivity and improve sleep patterns.

Practicing mindfulness is exactly as it sounds. It’s a skill that takes practice. It is versatile though, it should not be a chore, you can trial different ways of incorporating mindfulness into your day.

“When drinking tea, just drink tea.”

The tea ritual - This is a great opportunity to pause. Don’t rush this daily habit. When you make a cup of tea take time to notice the aroma. To let it brew. Really sit and enjoy it.

Mindfulness is something you can bring to any part of your day.

Choose something in your environment / daily routine that you can use as a trigger to pause and refocus. It could be making tea, it could be walking to the letterbox or folding the clothes it’s just about slowing down, observing and being intentional.

Start checking in with yourself a few times a day. You could set a reminder to begin with. Just take moments to draw your attention to yourself. Notice how you are feeling right in that moment and just recognize any feelings, sensations or emotions that crop up. Don’t dwell or problem solve but just observe.

A feeling of breathlessness. A heavy weight on the chest. A knot in the stomach. These are commonly reported physical sensations related to grief, familiar to anyone who has experienced great loss.

Emotions have purpose. It is important that we experience emotion and that they help shape our experience, what is important is finding balance and ensuring we can support our systems to cope while emotions are processed.

As we draw connections with our emotions and health imbalances, we must be kind to ourselves. Mindfulness, breath work, meditation and finding a health professional that can help support us through the process of Grief is incredibly important.

Oh how we love a quick fix in 2026. The difficult truth is that fast and flashy is not the formula for long lasting change. Leo was right when he said “all really great things are happening in slow and inconspicuous ways.”

It’s the steady, maintainable, quiet progress where you will see the results you need.

If you feel that progress is slow and the goal seems far take a moment to reflect on the small changes that you may have overlooked…

Has your sleep cycle changed?
Is your digestive health improving?
Have you noticed an increase in energy levels?
Better moods maybe?
How has your pain or symptoms changed in their intensity or location?

Identify these changes, however small and celebrate them. You are not standing still. You may be moving slowly but great things are happening.

Ready to start the shift? Contact us at - Book online or call (03)59061494

Where our Metal element is strong, we will notice the following signs:

🍂Easily developed consistent routines
🍂A love of ritual

🍂A sense of strength
🍂The ability to be precise
🍂Enjoyment of structure and boundaries
🍂Metal loves a good routine

These all sound great, and useful in day-to-day life however like everything this Metal element needs to be kept in balance.

Our Metal element loves structure and routine, we also need to ensure we have enough flexibility to open ourselves up to outside support and that we have the ability to communicate our needs and desires, enjoy social activities, and indulge our passions.

When our Metal element is out of kilter it can lead to the following problems:

🧡Trouble communicating our feelings
🧡Becoming to ridged in our processes
🧡Taking routine structure too far
🧡Inability to let go

Chilli lover? Autumn is the perfect season for adding some spice into your meals.

The flavours that are most supportive in Autumn are spicy and pungent. The foods that carry these characteristics have a cleansing nature, they move mucus, release waste and toxins and invigorate blocked Qi. (We absolutely want our Qi invigorated).

Chilli and hot peppers are excellent examples of supportive Autumn foods.

Here’s a little run down of the Chilli from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective:

Temperature = Hot (no surprises here)
Channels = Lung, Stomach, Spleen & Heart
Flavours = Pungent
Tonifies = Yang

More good stuff:
Circulates Qi, Circulates Blood, Disperses Cold, Clears Damp, Disperses Wind.

Who is chilli good for?

People who are cold in nature or are affected by damp conditions such as fluid retention, sluggish digestion and cold / damp influenced joint pain.

*it’s always best to get individualised dietary guidance to be sure you are making the right choices for your unique constitution*

When is chilli not a good idea?

People who are already hot in nature should be cautious to add additional heat to their system. If you experience symptoms such as a red face, dry mouth, constipation, and dry skin then you could only worsen these conditions by adding extra heat via diet.

It’s also very wise to seek guidance from a practitioner if you suffer from high blood pressure, ulcers, infections, hot flushes, rashes anything that points to an imbalance of heat in the body.

March is Endometriosis awareness month.

Endometriosis has found the spotlight of late & whilst the misdiagnosis and mismanagement of Endometriosis that has placed it loudly in the public arena is far from positive, hopefully the conversation it has stirred up continues to raise awareness & push for change.

One of the overarching symptoms of Endometriosis is pain.

Pain pre, post and during menstruation
Pain with sexual in*******se
Pain from bowel movements
Pain from urination
Back pain, leg pain, hip pain, headaches…
The list goes on.

Pain in Traditional Chinese Medicine is the result of stagnation. This is where we find a blockage, stasis or sluggishness to the movement of Qi and Blood around the body.

Stagnation of Liver Qi (the primary source of our Blood movement) will typically result in irregular, impaired and painful cycles. Excess Heat in the Liver may also be at play resulting in long and heavy bleeding.

A Liver imbalance will often go hand in hand with imbalance of the Spleen. Our Spleen health is strongly influenced by diet with processed foods and refined carbs linked to stagnation of Spleen Qi.
Deficiency in Spleen and Kidney energy can also present as heavy and prolonged periods, associated fertility issues such as miscarriage. Tubal blockage can be the result of Phlegm Damp from Spleen Qi deficiency.

How can we help?

Primarily, treatment with will involve the use of Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese Herbs to harmonize the Liver, tonify the Kidney system, strengthen the Spleen and remove stagnation by harmonizing the Qi and Blood.

Supporting women’s health, particularly in areas such as Endometriosis in relation to fertility requires a flexible and integrative approach. Scott is happy to work alongside a wide variety of professionals be it Western medicine specialists, allied health professionals or other alternative health practitioners. This way we can be sure to provide the patient with optimal and long-lasting results.

If you have been putting up with painful, irregular periods get in touch with us at Red Bridge on (03)59061494 & take a look at health from a new perspective.
