About

My interest in Chinese Medicine began many years ago when I found the great benefits of acupuncture in treating my own health concerns and seeing results of others close to me. Realising for myself that by using this age-old medicine it enables/activates your own body’s innate ability to heal itself. When the body is in imbalance causing you pain or discomfort, my main priority as a practitioner is to get you back to being pain free or relieving your discomfort, whatever that may be. I understand that restoring your health will get you back to doing the everyday things that you enjoy most. In diagnosing and treating your condition I will use my knowledge and the appropriate methods which will be most effective for your presenting condition, allowing your body to reclaim its balance and recover from the disharmony in which it finds itself. My philosophy is to always create a relationship within a supportive and safe environment for my patients, where we can both work on getting the greatest benefits and lasting results for you. An individual and tailored treatment plan will be established unique to your individual condition. I hope that I can be of service to you in the near future. Special interests:

Happy New Year from

February 17th marks the Chinese New Year and the beginning of the year of the Fire Horse.

Over the past few weeks many of us have awaited the Chinese New Year with anticipation. We have all felt ready to shed the year that was the Yin Wood Snake and welcome the energy of the Yang Fire Horse.

The Horse is well regaled in Chinese culture. It symbolises courage and success.

2026 brings an expectation that the arrival of the Fire Horse will awaken us. It will spark inspiration, a forward moving (sometimes impulsive) nature & bold action.

The coming year is certainly looking like no time to be hesitant or indecisive! It could be your work, your relationships, your passions or your health. 2026 is shaping up to be the year to be decisive and take action!

Are you born in the year of the horse? These years (along with 2026) include:
1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014

Characteristics of people born in the year of the horse -
Just generally being more lively and upbeat about life! They wear their heart on their sleeve and are social. Other traits are strength and independence.
Fire Horses tend to be particularly energetic and enthusiastic.

Is health going to be a focus for you in the coming year? Let us support you at

Valentines Day is around the corner so I thought I’d share a little about our Shen which you could consider to be likened to our spirit, consciousness or intellect.

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective the Heart, along with providing the physical actions of circulating the blood houses the Shen.

The Shen is involved in the organisation of thoughts and memory. It’s also connected to our wisdom and ability to process information. This means any imbalance of Heart Qi, be it excess or deficiency will impact the Shen.

In particular balanced Heart Qi and healthy Shen is of vital importance for our sound mental health.

I would consider that a patient may be experiencing a disturbance of Shen if they presented with the following symptoms:

🫥pale lack lustre complexion
🫢poor appetite
😣digestive disturbances
😴insomnia or poor sleep quality
😨recurrent dreaming
🤔forgetfulness
🥹mood or mental health imbalances

Happily acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can be very supportive to gently yet effectively resolve the deficiencies of the Heart Qi and the Shen.

Feel like you may benefit from some acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine? I have a few appointments still available for next week. Bookings can be made online or by calling (03) 5906 1494

Let’s talk about men’s fertility support.

Awareness around the importance of men’s health in the area of fertility is slowly growing, as it should be.

Unfortunately it’s still extremely common however that when couples encounter trouble with conception most of the investigation and medical support is focused on the female. It’s is essential that the health of both the male and female is considered so you can ensure energy, time and money is channeled in the right direction.

Too many times I see women in clinic at who have been trying to fall pregnant for an extended period of time with little or no attention given to the health of her partner.

Male fertility is an area when great changes can be made to improve s***m health. This will involve support with acupuncture and herbs along with a strong focus on lifestyle and diet.

For optimal results it’s likely I’ll be suggesting some significant changes. This can be overwhelming but it is a really important step to starting a family and something I can offering you support and guidance with. Ensuring you are set up for success.

Regardless of if you are trying to fall pregnant naturally or if it’s IVF assisted the 3 months leading up to conception is a critical period for men’s health.

In most cases by working on your reproductive health we are going to come across many other areas of imbalance that we will improve and you might surprise yourself by feeling so good that you choose to maintain many of the recommendations we implement.

The message here is that if you have decided that now or in the near future you would like to start a family then you really must make sure you are in the best version of health first. For pregnancy success but also for yourself, your partner and your future child.

How are you planning to maintain good health body and mind in 2026?

In 16th century China the Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner of the house would be paid only if the household remained healthy. Should the patient become ill the doctor would continue care however payment would cease until health resumed!

This focussed on a system of preventive care rather than one of symptom fixing.

Here’s a few TCM tips to build a healthier 2026:

FOOD AND ALCOHOL
⚖️Aim for balance rather than elimination. TCM suggests seasonal eating, a balance of energies and flavours. Get to know foods, their energetic qualities and nutritional value.
🍲 Eat light and easily digested foods for a happy Spleen and Stomach.
🍷 Overconsumption of alcohol will certainly negatively impact health particularly if you have any inflammatory conditions.

SLEEP:
☯️ A good sleep routine is essential for yin yang balance.
😴 Yin reaches its peak and begins to transform between 11pm and 1am so it’s ideal to be experiencing deep sleep at this stage.
🥱 Yang reaches its peak in the afternoon and begins to transform to yin making an afternoon nap not lazy but an excellent practice.
🌼 Adjusting your routine to the season is best. In Spring and Summer rising early with the sun and retiring later makes more sense. In Autumn and Winter when the yin is dominant and the days shorten so should your wakeful hours.

WORK AND REST:
🧐 Does your body prefer yin or yang activity? Listen to your bodies responses to movement.
🧘 An excess of exercise can impact liver and kidneys so TCM promotes gentle exercise such as yoga, walking, swimming, tai chi.
🤯 An excessive work load mentally will impact the shen (spirit) and damage the liver and spleen so be aware of weariness of body and mind.

CLOTHING:
🧣Always dress for the weather! Layers are a TCM must. Necks and lower backs should always be protected from an external chill.

LIVING SURROUNDINGS:
🏡 How do you feel in your home? Does it promote health? Do you feel comfortable, creative, energetic and vital? If not why?
Establishing a home space with a good “feng shui” can make a substantial difference to your health.

The healing power of nature cannot be overstated.

When we feel like the world is racing around us, as it does at this time of year it is easy to become overwhelmed. It’s at these times when we feel like we have so little time that scheduling in activities that help you slow down is essential.

Yesterday the fam took a long weekend and had a refreshing beach day down at Somers.

There is nothing quite as soothing, as grounding (and as cost effective) as being outdoors for our health.

There is an ancient Chinese technique I have spoken of before called ‘earthing’, the roots of which can be traced back thousands of years. It’s an amazing way to slow the mind and stimulate optimal flow of Qi.

When we practice earthing, we soak up the electrons from the Earth. It’s well researched that these electrons provide physiological changes within our bodies with the side effects including pain reduction and improved sleep!

From the TCM point of view earthing works to strengthen and stimulate our Kidney energy. Kidney energy is considered vital to good health and a weakness of our Kidney energy can impact on a multitude of health issues.

Earthing is also a wonderful tool for quieting the mind. In our busy lives we are being bombarded with fear, stress and constant change. This drains our energy pool.

So, you want to know how do you do it?

Well the most simple and inexpensive way to earth is to just get outdoors barefoot! Moisture is an excellent conductor so a river bed (of which Healesville has plenty), wet grass or if you have time for a drive, the beach will give you the optimal earthing experience.

Today we are back in clinic feeling recharged and ready for the busy week ahead!

If you need an appointment we have a few small gaps that will not appear online so call us on (03)59061494 to make one of them yours.

Gold Plated Diode Rings. Another tool I use at

These stunning rings offer a my patients a non invasive pain therapy that some of you may have already encountered in our treatment rooms.

What is a diode?

A diode is an electrical component that conducts electricity in one direction only.

What’s that got to do with Traditional Chinese Medicine?

According to Traditional Chinese medicine, our energy travels around our bodies via pathways called meridians. When we treat imbalances with acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine we are working to restore optimal energy flow along those meridians.

How do Diode Rings work?

The Diode rings work with the ion flow of the body to produce an optimal healing current. They can be applied locally or on the finger or toes for a distal treatment. The rings deliver a micro stimulation to manipulate stagnant energy which is a common cause of pain and imbalance. By stimulating the skin and underlying tissue they assist in improving the flow of energy around the body.

What are Diode rings good for?

Diode rings are particularly effective at aiding in the relief of inflammation, reduction of swelling, treatment of bruises, and aiding healing of bone and ligament issues.

Treatment at extends far beyond acupuncture needles. Got pain? Give us a call on (03)59061494 or book online today.

Exhausted? Mental Fog? Poor appetite? Pale?

Blood deficiency in some form is one of the most common patterns affecting our female patients at

Blood has a multitude of important supporting, nourishing, warming and moisturising functions for the body.

When our blood is not nourished and supported it becomes deficient and stagnant.

What does blood deficiency look like?

Menstrual irregularities
Gynaecological conditions
Absent periods
Fatigue
Insomnia
Pale skin tone
Pale gums
Palpitations
Dizziness upon standing
Floaters in your eyes
Cold extremities
Slow healing
Poor immunity
Loss of appetite

In your blood tests Western Medicine will potentially see results reflecting low iron and low ferritin with these symptoms.

In clinic we can work with the body and the cycle to move, build, tonify and nourish the blood.

In this scenario I would suggest using a supplement such as Best of the Bone Beef Liver capsules along side Chinese Herbal therapy and acupuncture. With this combined approach we can make a lot of positive change in supporting those areas of deficiency and boosting Qi.

If any of these symptoms sound familiar then you can read more on our blog ‘Let’s talk about Women’s Health and Blood Deficiency’ or give us a call on (03)59061494

Summer is the time of the Heart and the emotion of the Heart is Joy. When we feel Joy, we feel good! What happens when there is an imbalance of Heart Qi? Can there be excess Joy?

Joy is the emotion of Summer. The sunshine, the warmth and the upbeat energy of the season can all contribute to our Joyful mood.

The experience of Joy is a crucial component when we are working towels optimal health.

Often we consider illness as a result of a deficiency. Certainly a deficiency of Heart Qi is a common finding. Excess however can also contribute just as much to our ill health.

Yesterday I talked about imbalance from excess heat in the Summer season but what about an imbalance or excess of emotion? An excess of Joy and its negative impact on our health is hard to imagine but it does exist.

An excess of emotion & a resulting imbalance of Heart Qi may manifest in our physical and mental health in the following ways:

Agitation
Manic Episodes
Over excitement
Restlessness
Heart palpations
Insomnia
Acute headache and migraine

The key concept here is to find balance.

Traditional Chinese Medicine is a fantastic way of supporting your health and restoring any seasonal imbalances you may be experiencing. If you have found the festive season and Summer heat to be throwing you out of balance get in touch on (03)59061494 or online via the link in my bio.

“Heat is life. It is the force that drives us… The goal is not to eliminate it, but to keep it appropriate- to support the body in regulating when to rise, when to rest, when to burn, and when to simmer. When that regulation is working we feel grounded but awake, clear but calm, energised but not over extended. And in that place heat is not a burden. It is a companion.” - Unknown

Summer is a vibrant time of Yang energy and as such it encourages us to be active, social and in general more energetic. As with all seasons Traditional Chinese Medicine encourages us to be mindful of balance. In Summer this is highlights the importance of ensuring we don’t find ourselves with excess fire and our Yin doesn’t become exhausted.

Excess fire tends to affect the upper body. Some examples of excess fire might include:

-Mouth ulcers
-Gum problems
-Dryness of the mouth
-Red eyes
-Dry nasal passages

Other symptoms could include:

-Fever
-Headaches
-Thirst
-Inflammation
-Insomnia
-Constipation

We have some hot weather predicted this week so if you are feeling like the heat might be impacting your health get in touch to book an appointment. We also have some good easy Summer health tips over on our Instagram today to help you ease through the remainder of this warm week.
