You've been over it twenty times.

You know that.
Rationally, you know that.
And yet here you are. Twenty-first time.

The conversation that didn't go how you wanted.
The thing you said that came out wrong.
The moment you handled badly and have been mentally editing ever since.

Each replay slightly more detailed.
Each version of yourself slightly more articulate.
Each version of them slightly less reasonable.

And your body -
your body doesn't know it already happened.
It's responding as if you're in it right now.
Heart rate, tension, the whole thing.
Again.

This is the loop.
Not a character flaw.
Not proof that you're too sensitive.
Just a wave that never got to finish -
grabbed by the story before it had the chance.

Resentment doesn't arrive loud.

It doesn't knock. It just quietly moves in.
Sets its things down.
Makes itself at home.

It's in the way you answer when someone asks if you're okay.
Fine. You say it in a specific tone that means the opposite.

It's in the mental tally you keep - not on purpose, just automatically.
Who asked. Who didn't. Who noticed. Who walked straight past it.

It's doing the thing - again - that you've done a hundred times, without acknowledgement, and telling yourself it doesn't matter.
While the part of you that is keeping score knows exactly how many times it's happened.

The exhausting thing about resentment is that it's almost never about one thing.
It's accumulated.
A hundred moments that felt small enough to let go -
but didn't.

Each one left a little residue.
And the body holds all of it.

You're not even angry about the thing anymore.

You're angry about the thing means.

That someone didn't consider you. That it happened again. That you said something and it was ignored and then someone else said the same thing five minutes later and everyone nodded.

The original moment lasted about 30 seconds.
Your brain has been workshopping it for three days.

You've run every version. The version where you said something brilliant. The version where you just walked out. The version where you calmly and devastatingly explained exactly why it was unacceptable.

None of those versions actually happened.
But your body has lived all of them.

And that is the exhausting part. Not the thing. The loop around the thing.
The wave that was supposed to come through and finish - grabbed by the story before it had the chance.

Better in your relationships - because resentment doesn’t quietly build.
Better at work - because you stop running on empty.
Better in life - because you stop living in reaction mode.

If you struggle to hold boundaries, it’s not because you don’t know better.
It’s because your system is overloaded.
