Here is a reminder to people interested in having a glance at what I have been doing - I got an FB page together for parents of children with Autism Spectrum or Extra Learning Needs called "ASLAN" so parents could ave a space to chill and have a chat gain information about avenues of interest for their children and also a place to have a natter that was safe and non judgemental. (Wow! That was a long sentence)! It is part of the Charles Campbell Parents and Friends Page.

Please stay home this Easter and school holidays.

Easter is a special time for many South Australians, providing us all with a chance to spend time with our loved ones or enjoy a long weekend camping before winter starts. But the coronavirus outbreak means this year’s Easter break will look a little different for us all.

While we have to change our plans, you can still spend quality time with your loved ones.

Staying at home will reduce the chances of you and your family becoming sick, or causing others to become sick.

Cancelling holiday plans is always upsetting, but it is a vital step in protecting everyone, including our regional communities and their health resources.

While family get-togethers, parties and BBQs are usually a great way to spend the long weekend, this year it’s important that everyone continues to practise social distancing. You should avoid spending time with anyone outside your immediate family and follow the state rules on indoor and outdoor gatherings.

There are still lots of ways you can celebrate the holiday, and this can be especially important during these worrying times. Special meals, Easter egg hunts and camping in your backyard are just some of the ways you can keep entertained – and there is no limit on the amount of hot cross buns you can eat.

Even during the holidays, it’s important we all work together to stop the spread of the virus for the sake of everyone in our community.

Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.

There was a pause.

"Do you want to talk about it?" asked Piglet.

"No," said Pooh after a bit. "No, I don't think I do."

"That's okay," said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.

"What are you doing?" asked Pooh.

"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.

"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."

And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day, while the solid, reliable Piglet sat next to him quietly, swinging his little legs...he thought that his best friend had never been more right.

Hi all, we tried to provide a space where Parents/Carers meet up and exchange information and encourage communications to address social isolation issues. I encourage people to come along and enjoy a coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. We need people to turn up to make this idea fly. I know the logistics are hard for people.

A MOMENT OF ME

"I was an elected Councillor and I worked on the Campbelltown Council in South Australia from 2006 to 2010. We wanted to improve accessibility and inclusivity and represent members of the community who live with disability. I am passionate about standing up for the rights of kids with autism and people with disabilities and also about doing what I can to pursue the war on waste for the good of the environment. I want to show my children that it’s possible to be the decision makers and create the environment that they want to live in. I believe in the power of the human spirit to rise above adversity." - Jane

As a mark of mourning and respect for the victims of the New Zealand terror attacks, Council has lowered it's flags to half-mast.

Our thoughts are with all the victims of the Deans Avenue Mosque and Linwood Avenue Mosque terror attacks.

My story.

Hi, previously I participated in the Sydney 2000 Para Olympics Cultural Festival with a one woman show called “Bananas”. that also performed in Vancouver & Los Angeles. I have a Bachelors of Social Work. I am married with 2 children aged 11 and 7 on the Autism Spectrum & am a passionate advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, youth, the elderly as well as Mental Health and Waste Management issues. I am a member of the Campbelltown Boomerang Bags group and an Ambassador for the Parents and Friends of Adelaide ASPECT Treetops Autism Specific School. I enjoy Quilting. I like to walk with my family in the City to Bay fun run each year. In 2015 I began a Blog site called ASD Supernova 2 Shining Sons at janemuras.com, as I believe that through sharing stories and struggles it may benefit other parents in similar situations so people know that “You are not alone” but part of a community of people. Hence we can come up with community initiatives to address issues. Previously I was a Woodford Ward Councillor for 4 year and championed community participation in local events as the later Sunrise Rotary Market and the Christmas Parade.
