Today we celebrate the 13th birthday of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

From the ground up, Olivia played a hands-on role in bringing her vision to life — a place where patients receive not only world-class cancer treatment, but also the holistic care and compassion that supported her throughout her own cancer journey.

As a pioneer of Cancer Wellness, Olivia believed deeply in caring for the whole person — mind, body, spirit, and heart. Because of her vision, thousands of patients today can access free supportive programs such as art therapy, music therapy, exercise physiology, oncology massage, psychology, and other evidence-based therapies that bring comfort, confidence, and strength during treatment.

As we head into the holiday season, we’re mindful of the many patients who will spend this time at the Centre — receiving care, finding support, and leaning on these essential wellness programs.

This week, we celebrated 743 staff who reached years of service milestones, ranging from 10 to 45 years, with our annual Years of Service Awards. 🎉

Together, these staff have provided a staggering total of 13,315 years of service to Austin Health and our patients!

We caught up with Peggy Finegan, After Hours Site Manager at the Royal Talbot, who marked an impressive 45 years, and asked her to share some memorable moments from her time at Austin Health.

We extend our sincere thanks to our wonderful partners at MooGoo Skin Care who supported us at this year’s Olivia’s Walk and Run for Wellness by providing much-needed sunscreen for all participants.

MooGoo also supports patients receiving care within the ONJ Radiation Oncology department, generously supplying product packs to help support comfort and recovery following radiation therapy. Their contribution makes a meaningful difference to patient wellbeing during what can be a challenging time.

The ONJ Radiation Oncology service delivers world-class radiation therapy using state-of-the-art equipment, advanced techniques, and the expertise of our highly skilled multidisciplinary team — including Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists, Oncology Nurses, and allied health professionals.

Through our Wellness Centre and supportive care programs, we help patients and families navigate the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of cancer, creating a space focused on healing, resilience, and wellbeing.

A heartfelt thank you to Ryman Healthcare Australia!

Ryman Healthcare has raised an incredible $115,283.86 for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

Over the past 12 months, residents, and staff from Ryman’s nine Australian villages have come together to make a difference – hosting bake sales, quizzes, raffles, and other fundraising initiatives in support of people living with cancer.

On Monday 27 October, Ryman Healthcare Chief Operating Officer Marsha Cadman presented the cheque to Susan Bird, Head of Partnerships at Austin Health.

This generous donation will directly support the Wellness Centre, which receives limited government funding. Every dollar raised helps provide crucial wellness and supportive care programs that offer strength, comfort, and hope to people navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.

The ONJ Centre continues to honour Dame Olivia Newton-John’s legacy of combining science and compassion in patient care – ensuring that every person is treated with dignity, understanding, and holistic support.
