Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, and not all skin cancers look the same.
Here’s what you need to know about the three most common types:

☀️ Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC): The most common. Often appears as a pearly bump or red patch. Grows slowly but can be locally invasive.

☀️ Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC): May look like a scaly, crusted sore or thickened patch. Can spread if left untreated.

☀️ Melanoma: The most serious. Can develop in a new or existing mole. Early detection is critical for survival.

Even if a spot doesn’t hurt, itch, or bleed, it could still be skin cancer. At ICO Health Group, our GPs perform skin checks to identify concerning changes early.

Protect your skin. Know what to look for. Get checked.

Feeling low, tired, or unmotivated during winter?

Shorter days, less sunlight, and colder weather can all impact your mood. But sometimes what feels like the winter blues may actually be a sign of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or another underlying mental health condition.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞:

🛌 Oversleeping or low energy

🥶 Increased irritability or withdrawal

🍞 Craving more carbs and sugar

😞 Persistent low mood

You don’t have to “wait it out.” At ICO Health Group, our GPs can assess your symptoms, offer strategies that go beyond lifestyle changes, and connect you with additional support like counselling or medication if needed.

Your mental health matters, every season.

Book a consultation with one of our GPs to talk through what you’re feeling. Support is here! https://icohealth.com.au/contact-us-4/

If you're taking oral iron but still struggling with fatigue, breathlessness, or brain fog, there may be a reason it’s not working as expected.

Some people can’t absorb iron effectively through the gut, or experience side effects like nausea or constipation that make oral supplements hard to tolerate. In these cases, an iron infusion can help restore iron levels more quickly and efficiently.

𝐈𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞:

▪️ Ongoing iron deficiency despite supplements

▪️ Heavy menstrual bleeding

▪️ Digestive conditions like coeliac disease or IBD

▪️ Pre- or post-operative needs

▪️ Late-stage pregnancy with low iron

At ICO Health Group, our GPs assess your iron status through blood tests and work with you to find the most effective treatment, oral or intravenous.

Feeling better may be just one infusion away.

If you're generally healthy, it’s easy to think, “I’ll be fine without the flu shot.”

But here’s the bigger picture: vaccination isn’t just about personal protection, it’s about community protection.

The flu vaccine helps:

✅ Reduce your risk of serious illness

✅ Safeguard infants too young to be vaccinated

✅ Protect vulnerable loved ones with chronic conditions

✅ Slow community transmission and support herd immunity

At ICO Health Group, we encourage everyone, not just those at high risk, to consider flu vaccination. Because your healthy choice could help protect someone else's life.

Prevention is powerful. And in just one visit, you can make a difference.
