YogaBugs Moonee Ponds children imagination This program is ideal for schools, pre schools, kindergartens and day care centres as well as health clubs, gyms etc.

We offer fun and creative yoga for children by intertwining well known children’s stories into an imagination driven yoga class, providing a fun, fitness exercise routine. It teaches the kids to relax by offering breathing, relaxation and meditation exercises that can be used in everyday life. This leads to children that are more balanced and centred and improves self confidence, self awareness and aids in the ability to deal with the day to day pressures that life offers.

Fascinating article! In YogaBugs classes we regularly explore both the emotions that children might feel in the stories (and when the child next to them falls over onto them during tree pose!) as well as coaching them on appropriate actions to take (e.g. help the mummy pterodactyl find her babies, and talking gently to the child who fell in tree pose - instead of shoving them over the other way!) We like to encourage good reasoning and cognitive skills too :-) Nice to know we're on the right track!

Hi Everyone, hope you are all settling into the new year and school is going well :-). YogaBugs classes are starting back today in childcare centres, and on Monday 4:15-5:00pm at the Creative Learning Centre for the 5-8 year olds. If you have a kinder aged child, we will be running classes on Mondays 10:15-10:45am - let me know if you'd like to come along :-)

On this Remembrance Day, I just wanted to thank our Diggers and everyone who in any way (past or present, large or small) contribute to us having freedom. But let's not forget to enjoy the freedom we have - it might not be perfect, but let's make the most of it to do justice to those who fought so bravely for us.

So, with that in mind make sure that you take a moment by yourself and with your family to just close your eyes and listen to the sounds you can hear - the birds, the plane flying overhead, the leaves of trees rustling in the wind, the sound of your breath, maybe even your heart beating. Just take a minute if that's all you have, let go of all the "stuff" you have on - and enjoy a minute of true freedom.

And another ! Really great explanation of the difference between flow, boredom and frazzle! It does indicate how important it is to have time to develop our ability to focus on a task, but also to have some unstructured time - perhaps to be bored, to allow our creativity a chance to come to the fore - otherwise known as free play (which also solves the problem of frazzle!)

This is a great clip by Barbara Fredrickson on the Science of Positive emotions. In it she talks about some research on "Loving Kindness" meditation and how it changes us in many different areas of our health and wellbeing.

In our YogaBugs classes, we do lots of this type of practice - often asking the children to imagine a butterfly, or other wonderful friend (including magical cottonballs!) resting with them during their relaxation time at the end of class, to help them to self generate those emotions of care, kindness and love - it only takes a minute or two, and it's always a privilege to share the wonderful feeling that results afterwards.

For those of you doing Family "Stretch and Connect", I hope this clip gives you a bit of encouragement to keep going with your home practices and to know that it takes time - so don't give up! See you on Sunday :-)
