Advance Care Planning Week is the perfect time to clear up a common misconception!

Q: Is it advance care planning or advanced care planning?
A: It's Advance care planning! ✅
As in, planning for your care, in advance.
Advance care planning is the process of planning for future health and personal care, in which a person’s values, beliefs and preferences are made known to guide decision-making at a future time if that person cannot make or communicate their decisions.

Don't worry too much if you get it wrong, but when in doubt simply drop the 'D'!

On 24 August 2025, Paul suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during a community event. “It was completely unexpected,” he says. What followed was intense: three heart operations in nine days and 18 days in hospital.
