Today we are building the deck and installing the Green Loo.
In line with our ecological values, we have decided to install a composting toilet that uses no water and the waste is safely composted into garden mulch.

Well after many months of preparation, disruptions due to monsoonal weather, machinery breakdown, tradesman cancellations, today it all finally came together.
At 07:00 sharp the tradies arrived with the digger and the place looked like a miniature construction site.
I can now say that we have power, water and internet to our new business and we are only a short time away from opening our doors and welcoming our first clients to our business.
Check out the grand light switch video, Angus has put in a monumental effort since this building arrived and has put his life on hold to get this finished for us.
The rest of the family have also worked hard around school and work, but Angus has been the Forman on this project and we are very proud that he has got this to the point of completion.
Will keep the updates happening over the weekend as we have the landscaping machinery arriving later this afternoon for a full on weekend.
Lastly it’s the finishing touches of furniture, then a test run of the tank to quality test.
Looking forward now to stepping back to receive our first happy and relaxed customers 🙏🏽💕

Hi all, well…we approached the weekend full of enthusiasm to open the first wing of the Float tanks new home and proudly show you the updates.
It seems that patience and team work were the order of the weekend over actual progress of the build.
Unfortunately the instructions and supply of the kit have not been as clear as the instructional video, plus the beautiful rain continues to bless us 😆
So…it’s inside after day two of roof up, roof down, floor down, floor up, and now it’s back into its original state as a shipping container…
I’m inside now making a nourishing soup of lamb, barley and vegetables to feed the weary family while the guys are back to the drawing board to decipher the dodgy plans over a cup of tea, because tea makes everything better 🥰
Lucky we are all about acceptance, growth and embracing the zen

Update, we decided to give it another go after lunch, some blood and a whole lot of sweat was spilled, thankfully no tears even though we found the kit was missing logical clear instructions, plus rather a lot of important materials to finish this side. We made do and have improvised to secure the first wing of the unit. This will be the massage room and meditation space.

Before your first float, we take time to provide you with a full briefing of what to expect to help you get the most out of your session. You have plenty of opportunity to ask any questions.
The first time is a float of discovery, to work out what feels right for you. You might choose to leave the lid of the Dreampod fully or partially open, to have music playing throughout or just at the beginning and end. You watch the light reflections as it cycles through the chakra energy centre colours or you can enjoy the darkness, it's all up to you.

The Dream Pod has moved to its new location in Herbert from Bees Creek.
The new building has been delivered and work is progressing nicely.
This coming Saturday we will open out the first wing of the building and the Dream Pod will be moved into its space then.

Being in a float tank is like relaxing in outer space. It’s likely to be the most relaxing thing you have ever experienced.
People float to relieve stress, recover from injuries, fight addiction, eliminate chronic pain and much more. Studies indicate that floating increases your dopamine and endorphin levels, boosting your mood and leaving you with a pleasant afterglow that lasts for days.
Without the need to fight gravity or take in external information, you’ll likely experience the most complete relaxation you’ve ever felt. It turns out that your body has a lot of extra resources at it’s disposal.
Your mind is free to mull things over without distraction, your brain waves slow down, and your body gets to rest, de-stress and heal.
I only first heard about float therapy in early 2018! I did some research and the next thing I find myself in a flotation tank in Brisbane and knew I had to bring this to the Darwin community. On the same trip (June 2018), we found a flotation pod for sale and bought it with no idea how we were going to get it to Darwin! It’s been a very steep learning curve and fortunately there are some terrific resources online that have taught us everything we need to know.
Our family moved to Darwin from Melbourne in 1993 as the result of a Defence Force posting. We brought our 7 year old twins (boy and girl) and our cat Stanley and the rest as they say, is history. We now have a grandson who was born in Darwin and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.
Phil, (husband of 34 years) and I started our own personal journey approx. 15 years ago to lead a healthier life. We took it slowly by first reducing consumption of foods with chemicals and preservatives. We started researching more and learnt that our lifestyle choices up until then had not necessarily been the best for our health and wellness. Over time we gradually made better choices and continue our search for the “truth”, instead of relying on marketing and media hype, which often means going against “the norm”.
Four years ago I became a Miessence representative and New Horizons NT was born out of a mission to share information with people on health and well being through a range of Australian Certified Organic products. It wasn’t long before I realised I had found my passion! Through my business, I have gained so much knowledge about harmful toxins that affect not only us but also our environment. It also sparked a deeper interest into gut health, nutrition and fasting and understanding the connection with so many of the diseases we see today. Saltwater Float Spa has evolved from these beginnings and a strong desire to help people. Like most things in my life, opportunities appear when the timing is right and the universe is aligned!
After a career spanning 18 years in the NT public service, at the age of 53, I decided to take a leap of faith and follow a path that was better aligned with my values and fulfil a need to help people and our environment. I certainly couldn’t achieve any of this on my own. Phil worked tirelessly over 10 months to make it all work. There’s been plenty of challenges along the way, a lot of sweat and a few tears, but by staying focused on the end result, we did it!
Now my aim is spread the word about floating and I'm sure you'll all help me do this. ❤️Karen
