Little Valley Learners Family Daycare

Little Valley Learners FDC will be open for care Monday through to Friday for permanent and casual bookings. We offer care for children aged 8 weeks to 12 years of age. Currently the hours of operation are 7:30am until 5:30pm (extended hours are negotiable) Services offered are: Long day care, before and after school care for Herne Hill Primary School, school holiday care and a specialised 3 year old School Readiness Program. About Me: I am a qualified Primary and Early Childhood Teacher with teaching experience in both Primary School and Early Learning settings. I have a current Working with Children Card, Police Clearance and Senior First Aid and Anaphylaxis training. I also have two boys of my own, one currently at school and one at home. My personal philosophy for teaching comprises of a mixture of both explicit and child lead learning experiences. I firmly believe in the need for a balanced curriculum developed in a positive, safe environment that allows children to be creative and imaginative thinkers. Enabling children to develop their autonomy and independence builds a strong foundation for learning. Encouraging a love of learning through play forms the foundation of our curriculum. At Little Valley Learners we encourage exploration and adventure. We will venture out and about in the community with visits to the local library, nature walks and visits to other Day Cares. Each child's voice is programmed and planned for in our daily curriculum as well as that of the families, carers and the community. The majority of the planning stems from each child's individual interests with the exception of some of the School Readiness Program. The School Readiness Program has been developed to prepare your child for Kindergarten and is built upon the Early Years Learning Framework and the Western Australian Kindergarten Guidelines. It focuses on early literacy and numeracy skills as well as listening skills, social development, routines and transitions that replicate a Kindergarten environment. At the completion of the School Readiness Program each child receives a Portfolio and a Transition to School Report for their Kindergarten Teacher. At Little Valley Learners FDC we use Storypark as a digital portfolio and electronic connection with families.
