9 weeks ago my father in law had a terrible fall, he spent 2 weeks in hospital then 6 weeks in respite. Sadly he is not able to return to his home and we couldn’t bear the thought of him going to a nursing home. Bob now calls our home his too, we are now a family of 10!

I am privileged to be able to bring Bob home to us and the kids are very happy to have their poppy live with us, however with this joy comes some great sacrifices. I will be putting my Doula work aside for a while to make sure I can give Bob the best care he deserves.

I won’t be accepting any new clients now or into the new year. I am joyful for the honour of supporting women in their birthing space and being a part of some very incredible births! I will be back sometime in the future 💗

I am looking forward to sharing special moments and creating some precious memories with my family during this time that Bob has on the earth side.

Babies are lovely aren't they? Holding them, soothing them, not forgetting that new baby smell.

When visiting New parents, remember that the connection between them and their baby cannot be matched. Although you may want to hold the baby and calm them when they cry, chances are there's a mother and/or father wanting you to just hand them back.

They may not want you to of course. They may be exhausted and overwhelmed, happy for you to take baby for a walk around around to try and calm them so they can rest.

Ask though. If the baby cries, offer the baby back.

If you've held baby for a while, hand them back.

If you notice mum in the corner becoming restless or pacing around, hand them back.

They may feel awkward asking and mindful of offending you. Remember it's their baby.

Parents - if you feel your baby needs you and you want them back but someone is hogging them, just walk over and put your arms out. Simply say "come to mummy/daddy" or "I'm going to take her and feed her now", or simply "pass here here please".

A new baby in the family is exciting and there will often be excitement amongst family and friends, but please, don't hog the baby 😊

April is International Caesarean Awareness Month. The purpose of this initiative is to raise awareness about caesarean births and the woman's experience of this procedure, advocating for vaginal birth after a caesarean (VBAC) and focusing on ways to reduce preventable caesarean sections.

This gorgeous baby boy was born via Caesarean section after his devoted, brave, focused and graceful muma endured a prolonged labour with maternal and fetal distress. I feel honoured to have been a part of this mamas pregnancy and birth journey, supporting her along side her husband and mother. She showed so much strength as I watched her unite with her family and medical professionals to make the best decision for her and her baby.

Mamas that have had c-sections your birth experience is just as beautiful, sacred important and valid as a vaginal birth. Your body is worthy and capable - You gave birth!

💗A beautiful day supporting a very strong Muma with emotional reassurance, comfort and encouragement 💗
