A startup in France is giving decommissioned trains a second life by converting them into innovative homeless shelters. These once-abandoned subway compartments are being transformed into warm, private, and dignified living spaces for people without housing. Each converted train car is fitted with clean beds, heating, lighting, and basic amenities — offering residents a safe place to rest and recover from the hardships of street life.

The interiors are redesigned for comfort and functionality, with insulated walls, individual sleeping pods, and common areas that maintain the familiar structure of the train while ensuring privacy and dignity. Located near urban centers, these mobile shelters can be stationed close to the communities they serve, making access easier for those in need.

This project not only recycles unused infrastructure but also addresses the growing homelessness crisis in a practical, compassionate way. By merging sustainability with social care, the initiative demonstrates how creative thinking and urban reuse can restore both shelter and hope.

We are so excited to see our pink collection boxes rolling into Woolworths Supermarkets across the country NEXT WEEK!

In case you missed it, our August Dignity Drive kicks off next Friday, August 1. For the month of August, we rally our incredible community to donate period products and incontinence aids to help women, girls and people with a period who are doing it tough.

If you’re able to, please consider picking up an extra pack of pads, tampons, or period un**es during your shop. Every single donation helps us Share the Dignity.

These are the basic essentials that go into every - shampoo and conditioner, soap/body wash, period products, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant.

Every item helps someone who is experiencing period poverty, fleeing domestic violence or seeking refuge in a shelter feel loved and cared for. These items, that we take for granted as basic essentials, is what helps those doing it tough, feel human again.

Gabby from the Alice Springs Hospital Emergency Department shared, "some of these women have escaped their homes and many can't go back. These bags are an amazing way to support people at one of the most difficult times in their lives".

This is the power of 🩷

What thoughtful extras do you put in your to help someone in need feel warm and fuzzy inside?

Our Dignity Vending Machines provide free access to essential menstrual products, ensuring that women, girls and those who menstruate can manage their periods with dignity and without financial strain.

These machines are installed nationwide in locations such as public toilets, schools, hospitals, community centres, domestic violence refuges, and Aboriginal Health Services, targeting areas where access to menstrual products is most needed.

A community centre recently shared this feedback: "just last week a young girl came into the centre as I was closing up and requested period products. I showed her the Dignity Vending Machine and how to use it and she was very grateful and commented that it was nice to know that it was in the centre and the next time she was in a pickle she would come through without having to ask anyone as it was discreet".

It is so heartwarming to hear feedback like this because this is exactly what our Dignity Vending Machines are intended for, to be a source of reliability and safety for those in our community.

I’ve always said, I’ve never met anyone who wouldn’t hand you a pad or tampon if you needed it. That quiet kindness, that moment of dignity, it matters more than we realise. 💗

But we can’t rely on kindness alone. Period products should be accessible, not a luxury. That’s why our August Dignity Drive is so important. So many people are going without the basics, and we have the power to change that.

Pop the date in your calendar, set yourself a reminder, start collecting products when you see them on sale, because every donation helps someone doing it tough.
