🚨 Measles Alert 🚨

Just a quick community update: there have been 5 confirmed measles cases in Queensland in the past 48 hours, including one in Bundaberg.

Measles spreads very easily, so please keep an eye out for symptoms:

👉 Fever, cough, runny nose, red/sore eyes
👉 A red blotchy rash that usually starts on the face and spreads

If you or your child develop symptoms, please call us 07 4124 2466 before coming in so we can keep everyone safe. 💙

🌸 Have you met Dr Laura Rogalski? 🌸

Dr Laura is passionate about women’s health and supporting women through every stage of life — from contraception and family planning to menopause and beyond.

She graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine in 2016 and completed her foundation training in London before pursuing a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr Laura worked as a registrar in Bundaberg for two years and holds both the RANZCOG Certificate in Women’s Health and the RCOG Diploma.

🌟 Exciting News for Family First Medical Centre Patients! 🌟

From 1 November 2025, all standard consultations at Family First Medical Centre will now be bulk billed by all of our GPs!

Why the change?
Thanks to increased Medicare incentives, we’re now able to bulk bill all eligible consultations — covering most standard visits. This means more affordable, accessible care for you and your family.

💙 We’re also proud to continue fully bulk billing all skin checks and follow-up treatments, helping ensure high-quality, accessible skin cancer care for our community.

💰 The following services will continue to attract a private fee:
- Appointments with MHNP Jenny
- Iron infusions
- Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MToP)
- Cannabis consults
- Dr Zin’s upper blepharoplasty procedures

Please note:
Cannabis consults and MToP services are billed in full to the patient and are not eligible for a Medicare rebate, as there are no corresponding MBS items for these services.

🌟 Welcome Dr. Nathan Kywe! 🌟

We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Nathan (Phone) Kywe to our team! Dr. Kywe will be starting with us on at our Madsen Rd Clinic Monday, and we’re excited for our patients to meet him.

Dr. Kywe graduated from the University of Medicine in Myanmar (Burma) in 2012 and brings over a decade of experience as a General Practitioner. He has worked extensively in emergency medicine at Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, and Maryborough Hospitals, developing broad clinical expertise across a range of specialties.

He has a strong background in chronic disease management and a particular passion for dermatology, skin cancers, preventive medicine, and mental health. With his solid foundation in both acute and specialist care, Dr. Kywe is now transitioning into General Practice — combining his vast medical knowledge with a compassionate, patient-centred approach.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kywe enjoys playing tennis, reading, training at the gym, travelling, and spending time with his family.

⏱️ This change is to ensure that the correct amount of time is allocated with both your treating GP and our nurse, as online booking slots were not aligning properly.

We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Ahmed Amin to our team starting November 2025!

Dr. Amin holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Master’s Degree in Cardiology and Internal Medicine from Zagazig University, Egypt. With extensive international experience across Egypt, Kuwait, and Australia, he brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to our practice.

🩺 Dr. Amin has worked in general medicine, cardiology, emergency care, and intensive care, and is passionate about delivering comprehensive, patient-centred healthcare. Before joining Queensland Health, he served in a wide range of clinical roles, gaining deep expertise in managing complex conditions.

📚 His research has been published in the British Journal of Cardiology, showcasing his commitment to advancing medical excellence.

At the same time, we're also saying a heartfelt goodbye to 5 of our amazing team, who are heading off on exciting new adventures — from medical school and university, to new job opportunities and moving towns for the next chapter in their lives.
