Some time ago, and as a follow up on my initial research conducted by Colonel Edward Durnford, others who were associated in some way with the events of the Zulu War were also researched. The Prince Imperial died June 1879. He was not supposed to ever have been in the field, and was under the protection of Lord Chelmsford, with strict orders from Queen Victoria and Prince George.

Surgeon Major James Henry Reynolds remained at Rorke's Drift, His assistant Dr Thrupp was also told by Lord Chelmsford to remain, but he went with the ambulances, and then found himself at Isandlwana, where he removed items from the body of Col Anthony William Durnford.
