Seeking a volunteer participant for student Gestalt therapy sessions

As I settle back in at home after my first university weekend away for the year, I am now looking for a volunteer participant to support the next part of my Master’s studies in Gestalt Therapy.

I need one adult participant for semester 1, who is local to Townsville and is open to attending 4 to 6 face-to-face sessions before June 2026, each around 50 minutes, in a room-based setting. These sessions are offered at no cost and are part of my student assessment process.

As part of the assessment requirements, sessions will be video recorded, with selected material viewed by a facilitator during supervision for marking purposes.

What is Gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is a relational, present-centred approach that explores what is happening in your current experience, thoughts, emotions, body awareness, patterns, and relationships. Rather than focusing only on talking about past events or finding solutions, the process often supports deeper awareness of how you meet yourself, others, and the world around you in the present moment. This can feel different from other therapy styles, as it values curiosity, reflection, and noticing what emerges in the here and now.

To take part, you would need to:

• be 18 years or older
• be local to Townsville and available for face to face sessions
• ideally be someone I do not know personally
• be open to a screening conversation so we can both ensure the process is suitable and clearly understood

This is part of a supervised student learning process, so clear boundaries, consent, and suitability are important.

If you feel this may be of interest, or would like more information, please send me a private message.

This morning the property was wrapped in fog.
The paddocks, the trees, the horses, the hills were all still there.

Just hidden for a while.
It reminded me how often life can feel the same. When things are foggy, we can’t see the full landscape. The urge is often to make a quick decision just to create movement. But decisions made when we can only see part of the picture are often reactions rather than understanding.

Sometimes the most supportive thing we can do for ourselves is slow down.
Take a breath.
Let the fog shift.
As clarity returns, we often realise there is more information available than we first thought. More awareness of what is happening around us, and within us.
And that matters.
Because thoughtful decisions tend to come when the whole deck of cards is on the table.
Clarity takes patience.
But fog never stays forever.
If life feels a little foggy right now, consider this your reminder that you do not have to figure everything out all at once. Sometimes space, reflection, and the right support can help the landscape come back into view.

Today is International Women’s Day.

In my work here at Pegasus Holistic Healing, I have the privilege of witnessing the quiet strength of women every single day. Strength is not only found in pushing through. Often it is found in the courage to pause, to feel, and to seek support.

Many of the women who come here have spent years holding everything together for everyone else. Choosing support is not weakness. It is an act of empowerment.

Our mares in the herd, along with Mother Nature herself, remind us of something simple. Balance matters. Strength and softness. Independence and connection. Giving and receiving.

When women allow themselves to be supported, something powerful happens. They remember who they are.
Today I honour the strength it takes to reach out, to heal, and to grow.

When the Work Comes Full Circle

This year has begun slowly.
The rain is still falling. Groups are still being organised. Plans have needed adjusting. And in many ways, that feels fitting.

Resilience is not about forcing outcomes. It is about flexibility. It is about a nervous system that can adapt when things do not unfold on schedule.
And alongside this slower start, I am sitting with an ending.

One of my very first clients is finishing up after nearly four years of walking this path together.

When we first met, life felt smaller for them. There were fears that shaped decisions. Patterns that felt stuck. A nervous system that was often on edge. Over time, with consistency, courage, and a lot of honest work, things began to shift.

Now they are doing things they once believed were out of reach. Making decisions with more clarity. Holding themselves with more steadiness. Stepping into spaces that once felt overwhelming.

This is the quiet magic of long term therapeutic work.
And endings like this are layered.
There is pride. Deep pride.
There is gratitude for being trusted with someone’s story.
And there is also sadness.

Because when you work closely with someone for years, you become part of each other’s growth in a meaningful way.
Ending well matters.

It means reflecting on how far someone has come. Naming the strengths they now carry. Honouring the relationship without clinging to it. Creating space for independence, not dependence.

Sometimes the most powerful outcome of therapy is that you are no longer needed in the same way.

To witness someone grow beyond what once felt possible is a privilege I never take lightly.
Endings are not losses.
They are evidence of growth.🌟

Today this showed up on my feeds (thanks to The Whole Horse Journey ) and it really struck something in side my chest.

I sat with that while I pondered the words while watching the horses eat.

It highlighted something important. If the only language we learn with horses is “yes” and “no,” our relationship will always be limited.

Yes and no are a starting point. They matter. Consent matters. Safety matters. Clear responses matter.

But equine language is so much more than binary answers.
Horses communicate through nuance. Through posture. Through breathing patterns. Through tension and release. Through how they orient their body. Through whether they seek connection or create space. Through the energy they bring into an interaction.

If we only listen for compliance or refusal, we miss the conversation happening underneath. When the conversation is limited, the relationship is limited.

Fluency in equine language comes through time, observation, and attunement. It asks us to slow down. To notice subtle shifts. To stay curious rather than jump to conclusions. To recognise that a “no” might carry uncertainty, discomfort, or a need for clarity. That a “yes” might be tentative, relational, or exploratory.

In the work that I do here with the herd, I try to ensure the focus is not just on whether a horse agrees or disagrees. It is on understanding what is being expressed in the whole body and relational field.

Because when we expand beyond yes and no, the depth of connection expands too, and in that expanded space, both horse and human have room to be heard.

Wet Season Rhythms 🌧️

Today we are closed as usual, though the creeks burst their banks early this morning. We will check driveway access once the water recedes. If you are booked for Saturday, please keep an eye on your messages for any updates.

Living in North Queensland means living with the wet season. The rain is part of our landscape and our way of life. It asks us to notice what sits within our circle of control and what does not, and to pivot when needed.

For some, that flexibility becomes a quiet strength. For others, constant change can feel unsettling. It can stir anxiety, low mood, frustration, or a whole mix of emotions. All of that is part of being human.

Whatever this weather brings up for you, I hope you are safe, dry, and taking gentle care.

I’m quietly proud to share that Pegasus Holistic Healing has been recognised as

🌟Best Integrative Mental Health Practice 2026 – North Queensland🌟

by APAC Insider as part of the Australian Enterprise Awards.
This recognition reflects something much bigger than a title.

It reflects the clients who show up even when it’s hard.
The families who trust this process.

The horses who hold space in ways words sometimes cannot.
And the land that supports our work.

Integrative mental health means we look at the whole person. Body. Nervous system. Story. Environment. Relationship.

It means therapy is not rushed. It is not one size fits all. It is relational, nature based and trauma informed.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. This work matters because you matter.

Showing Up in the Rain

It’s was wet yesterday.
And still, she showed up.

There’s something quietly powerful about arriving anyway. Not pushing through unsafely, not ignoring common sense, but choosing to come when it would be easier to cancel.
Showing Up in the Rain
It’s been wet in Townsville today.
And still, she showed up.
There’s something quietly powerful about arriving anyway. Not pushing through unsafely, not ignoring common sense, but choosing to come when it would be easier to cancel.
This morning the rain did something beautiful.
It softened the space. It slowed everything down. The steady sound on the roof created a kind of permission.
What had been sitting underneath for weeks finally had room to surface.
Sadness.
Heavy.
Not dramatic. Not loud. Just there.
And instead of pushing it down or talking around it, she stayed with it. She worked with it. She let her body feel what it had been holding.
Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t big or expressive.
Sometimes it’s simply this:
Noticing what hurts.
Staying with it.
Letting it move.
The weather doesn’t stop the work.
Sometimes it supports it.
If you’ve been thinking about coming, but something small keeps getting in the way, this is your reminder. As long as it’s safe to drive, sometimes showing up is the shift.

💭 Not everything needs to be fixed. Some things just need to be felt.

In healing, people often rush to ‘fix’ things, our thoughts, our emotions, our discomfort. But deep transformation happens when we learn to be with our experiences rather than resist them.

🌿 Next time something uncomfortable arises, pause. Rather than fixing, try:
✔️ Acknowledging: "I see you. You are valid."
✔️ Breathing through the discomfort
✔️ Noticing what shifts when you stop forcing change

💬 What’s something you’re learning to ‘be with’ right now?

Embodiment is more than just a buzzword! It’s a way of living.

We often hear about "being present in our body," but what does that really mean?

✨ Embodiment is about:
✔️ Feeling and experiencing life through the body, not just the mind
✔️ Learning to trust our inner sensations as guides
✔️ Moving in ways that allow emotions to flow rather than get stuck

💭 Try this simple practice:
Pause. Feel your feet on the ground. Take a slow breath. Notice how your body feels. You can just focus on one part or put your body through your virtual scanner, feel into what feels right for you.

If you want, let me know your experience with embodiment. 👇 or feel free to do some reflecting writing for your own personal interest📝
