We move better together 💜

At MET Phys, exercise is about building connection, confidence, and community.

We believe we are more than just a health service. We are a family and a community empowering each other to live healthier, stronger, and more connected lives.

Every individual who walks through our doors is welcomed with open arms and supported on their own journey toward better health and well-being, whether you’re 2 or 100 years old, looking to move more, manage your health, build strength, or improve confidence in everyday life.

From group sessions to personalised support, we aim to create spaces where people feel encouraged, supported, and capable of meaningful change.

This Exercise Right Week, we’re celebrating the important role movement plays in helping people live well at every stage of life.

Because when movement is guided, supportive, and connected to community, it becomes something sustainable and something empowering.

Move. Empower. Transform.

Celebrating Ann's 100 sessions at MET Phys during Exercise Right Week 💜

Ann’s milestone is a wonderful reminder that movement is about showing up consistently and investing in your health over time.

Exercise plays an important role in every stage of life and can support:

✔️ Strength and mobility
✔️ Chronic disease management
✔️ Injury prevention
✔️ Mental wellbeing
✔️ Recovery and healthy ageing

Reaching 100 sessions reflects the power of small, consistent steps and the positive impact movement can have on overall wellbeing.

At MET Phys, we’re proud to support our community through evidence-based exercise and personalised care that helps people move with greater confidence.

Congratulations, Ann! We’re so proud to be part of your journey.

Exercise Right Week at MET Phys

Movement is about so much more than exercise alone.

For many of our clients, it’s also about:
✔️ Staying independent
✔️ Building confidence
✔️ Managing health conditions
✔️ Connecting with others
✔️ Feeling supported by community

Hearing what MET Phys means to the people who walk through our doors reminds us why guided, evidence-based exercise matters.

We believe we move better together and that everyone deserves support that helps them live healthier, stronger, and more connected lives.

This Exercise Right Week, we’re celebrating the role exercise physiology plays in helping people continue doing the things they love at every stage of life.

Move. Empower. Transform.

At MET Phys, our accredited exercise professionals tailor movement and support to suit each individual’s goals, abilities, and health needs.

Whether it’s improving strength, managing pain, supporting recovery, or building confidence in movement, the right guidance can make all the difference.

That’s why we’re proud to celebrate Exercise Right Week this May 23rd to 30th and the important role of exercise physiology in helping people move safely and effectively at every stage of life.

Our speech pathology students, Liliana and Leanne, have been exploring how food texture, preparation, and presentation can support safer swallowing and mealtime experiences for people living with dysphagia.

As part of their placement at MET Phys, they’ve been developing practical skills around texture-modified meals and understanding how the right food consistency can improve both safety and quality of life.

Because support with swallowing isn’t just clinical, it’s about helping people continue to enjoy food, meals, and connection with confidence.

Our new gym space at MET Phys was once the old Highfields Fire Station.

A place that once supported the community in one way is now continuing to support the community through movement, health, wellbeing, and connection 💜

We love being part of a space with so much local history, and giving it new life as a place where people can build strength, confidence, and community.

Have you visited the new space yet?

Counselling isn’t about someone telling you what to think or how to feel.

Instead, it’s about having a safe space where you can talk openly, feel heard, and work through challenges at your own pace.

Sometimes the thoughts or problems we carry can feel too overwhelming, too personal, or too difficult to share with the people around us.

That’s where counselling can help.

At MET Phys, our approach to talk-based therapy is guided by you, your experiences, your goals, and what feels comfortable and manageable for your life.

Together, we explore practical strategies, sound things out, and work toward solutions in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Because sometimes, being able to talk things through out loud is the first step toward meaningful change.

Understanding food texture sizes for safer swallowing

When supporting someone with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia), food texture and size can make a big difference to safety and comfort during meals.

One simple tool often used is a texture guide card, which helps identify the recommended food sizes for different texture levels.

For example:

🍴 Soft & Bite-Sized
• Adult: 15mm x 15mm
• Child: 8mm x 8mm

🍴 Minced & Moist
• Adult: 4mm x 4mm
• Child: 2mm x 2mm

A helpful way to visualise this is by using a fork; the spacing between the fork tines can help give an idea of appropriate food sizing.

These guidelines are designed to support safer swallowing and reduce choking risk for individuals who may have difficulty managing certain food textures.
