Has anybody else notice that along the highway between Toowoomba and Highfields there are all of these beautiful berries on trees appearing? While this plant is known as a w**d, it is also a wonderful herbal medicine!

Glossy privet is a wonderful antioxidant, immune boosting, and a liver protective and kidney tonic herb. It helps the body adapt and cope with the winter months with high levels of Oleanolic acid - which is a compound known to be hepatoprotective, anti-diabetic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and even anti-tumour in activity! It is a really wonderfully protect and health building herb.

Glossy privet needs to be extracted via regulated alcohol extracts due to high levels of potentially toxic phytochemical compounds found in the berries. So best to see a naturopath to use this herb!
