A lovely story about a beautiful family that I had the privilege of meeting earlier in the year and assisting with funeral care. Very inspirational people.

The husband of a local netballer who died suddenly of pancreatic cancer in March has revealed the two big things giving him strength to “find a way to fight”.

Celebration of Life services are becoming an increasingly popular style of farewell. There are many suitable venues in Geelong. As part of my service I am able to support families to also access caring and competitively priced mortuary care through experienced local funeral providers. One of the strangest parts of my work is that my initial meeting with families is always on their worst day. Together, they and I are placed in a very vulnerable space within moments of meeting. Sometimes families stay in touch and I get to meet them again, at a later date and under less emotional circumstances. It’s a privilege to hear how their journey with grief and change continues to unfold. In November of 2024, I helped Chris to plan a very unique, detailed and fitting memorial service for his beautiful mum at a stunning Geelong venue. He used an independent funeral provider to assist with mortuary care, catholic service elements and cremation and ordered lovely blooms from a local florist. This week we had coffee and talked about life.🩵 Vale Antonietta…so loved.

When it comes to funerals and farewells there is no doubt that sporting clubs can play a key role. From memorials held in sporting clubrooms, to wakes and refreshments served at clubrooms after chapel services and team mates who attend services in club colours and when needed create guards of honour. At funeral and memorial services sporting achievements are often highlighted, trophies displayed and legendary tales shared. At a club level, numbers can be set aside and rested, playing jumpers memorialised and awards named in honour. This memorial sticker placed on a cricket club roller in honour of immense service to club is the first of its type I’ve seen, but such a fitting and unique way to memorialise a respected player, club president, life member and dedicated curator.

On Monday the 23rd of December and Tuesday the 24th of December I will be leading my final two funeral services for 2024.
I have had the opportunity to care for and assist 168 families in funeral and memorial planning this year and to lead funeral services for their loved ones. I have been both touched and inspired by the stories and memories that I have been entrusted to tell and it has been a privilege to be invited into each and every family home.
I will be taking a short break to refresh and spend time with my family and returning to work from the 3rd of January. The best way to contact me during this time for future bookings is via SMS.
