Females can have very different heart attack symptoms compared to males!

🌈 What every person who is genetically female should know!🌈

💛 Symptoms - NO.. you may not always present with the classic Hollywood chest gripping pain.

💛 A lived experience symptom was described as “having bad indigestion”

💛 Your risks - diabetes, high blood pressure (even if you only had these temporarily during a pregnancy), high cholesterol, smoking, menopause and family history.

Heart disease 💔 is the second biggest killer of females in Australia.

It's not just a middle aged man problem 👍🏼

By focusing on the next step will help you move forward rather than feel stuck and overwhelmed at a daunting task eg making a meal, writing an assignment, making the %$ #& book week costume LOL!

SO EXCITING! The amazing Dr Rebecca Tidd will be joining our lovely work fam 1st October! Dr Bec's books are OPEN NOW if you want to get in early.

Dr Bec is a Specialist GP with a passion for family medicine and women's health. She will be able to support you with IUD insertions amongst many other things a skilled and experience GP can do for you and your family. Dr Bec is a neuroaffirming GP.

Looking for a meaningful FREE event to attend this weekend until the 28th August?

The good people at Hope Bereavement Care are holding an Art Exhibition showcasing artists who have turned to their creative practice to explore, express and make meaning of their own experiences of loss.

Grief is a journey both deeply personal and universally shared.

Through painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, mixed media, and poetry, each work invites viewers into a space of raw emotion, quiet reflection, and honest storytelling. Whether art has been used as a tool to heal, honour or simply survive, these pieces speak to the unspoken — illuminating the many forms and paths that grief can take.

This exhibition aims to spark conversation, deepen awareness and challenge the silence that too often surrounds grief.
Join us as we explore how creativity can hold sorrow, connect us through shared vulnerability, and ultimately, remind us of the enduring presence of love.

One of the Artists exhibiting is the beautiful Elly Broadbent with her painting The Wings.

She gifted a print to us when we first opened to bless those who come to Family Doctors Highton.

1 in 10 women are affected by polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Whilst the name suggests it affects the ovaries, it is actually a complex hormonal condition affecting hormones such as insulin and androgens (male hormones).

PCOS affects physical and mental wellbeing. Good news is PCOS awareness and management are improving.

If you are concerned, best place to start is your regular GP who will help diagnose and set up a treatment plan which may include a multidisciplinary team.
