Today’s art class was all about slowing down and getting creative. 🤓💚

Our participants explored still life drawing using fabric and fruit — focusing on texture, light, and simple techniques while enjoying the process at their own pace.

More than just art, it’s about taking time, building confidence, and expressing yourself in a safe and relaxed space.

Episode 02: Mental Health Talks with Joshua 💚

In this episode, Joshua opens up about his lived experience with mania — what manic episodes felt like for him, how they appeared in daily life, and how disorienting and overwhelming they can become.

He also shares something that’s often not talked about: manic episodes don’t just “switch off.” For many people, they can build over time, last for days or even weeks, and take time, support, and grounding strategies to settle.

These are real experiences that are often misunderstood, but they matter.

At Horizon Community Services, we support participants with complex needs, including mental health conditions, by focusing on stability, routine, and the right wrap-around supports to help people stay safe and supported in the community.

Watch the episode, learn from lived experience, and reach out if you or someone you support needs guidance or support. 🫂

Our first session with the Men’s Community Club at Horizon Community Services was a great success last week! 💪🥳

Our group explored emotions and emotional regulation, learning practical ways to recognise feelings and respond in healthier, more grounded ways.

This week, we’re going deeper into mental health, continuing important conversations that build awareness, connection, and support among men in our community.

If you’re looking for a safe space to talk, learn, and grow, this is your sign to join us! 😎

Session 1 Activity: Picnic & Swim at Orion Lagoon 🥤🍡

After the group discussion, the day continued with a relaxed outing — a swim at Orion Lagoon followed by a BBQ and picnic together.

Sometimes, support looks like this: slowing down, enjoying the moment, and building connections in a comfortable space.

Days like these help participants practice social interaction, unwind, and feel part of a community, without pressure, just genuine time together. 🤗🫂

Our Men’s Community Club has officially kicked off!! and what a great first session it was. 🥳

The guys started with a small group discussion around emotions — how they experience them, manage them, and find healthy ways to regulate them in everyday life.

At Horizon Community Services, these conversations matter. Listening to our participants helps us understand what truly supports them, and how we can continue to show up better each time. 🙏

If you want to join in our next sessions, are doors are open! Reach out at 0735208909 or visit horizoncommunityservices.au 💚
