Part 3:

What actually happens during collaborative autistic identification? It is a collaborative and family-centred process. Together we will talk with you about your child’s history, strengths and challenges, do gentle play-based tasks, gather feedback from school or other carers, and then sit down for a final conversation about what we’ve learned together.

No matter the outcome, your child is still the same person. This process is about clarity, understanding, and building support that fits them. We walk beside you every step of the way.

Save this post, share it with another parent, and DM us if you’d like to learn more. Don’t forget to follow so you don’t miss other parts of this series.

Part 2:

Every brain is wired differently. Some are neurotypical, some are neurodivergent, including autistic neurology. This is not a defect. It is simply a different way of experiencing the world.

Autistic people often have unique strengths including creative thinking, deep focus, honest expression, and different problem-solving styles. Developmental timelines may look different, and that’s okay. Development is not a race.

Thinking about an autism assessment for your child? We prefer to call it collaborative autistic identification because this is a respectful, shared process we do with your child and family, not to them.

Families and schools often explore this when a child communicates differently from peers, shows intense interests or deep focus, struggles with change or transitions, experiences sensory input more intensely, or has big feelings that are hard to manage.

This isn’t about fixing anything. It’s about understanding how your child’s brain works so we can support them to thrive.

Today is the very first AuDHD Day!

AuDHD is a non-medical term for people who are both autistic and have ADHD. While each are distinct diagnoses, its believed about 50-70% of autistic people also have ADHD.

Each AuDHDer has a unique mix of autistic and ADHD traits that can complement or contradict each other.

AuDHD Day is a community-led initiative to raise awareness of AuDHD, which is often missed and misunderstood.
