This year’s theme for World Health Day celebrates the power of scientific collaboration protecting the health of people, animals, plants and the planet. At Drs4Drs we believe that this is an important opportunity to pause and acknowledge the health and wellbeing of those who care for the health of others.

Doctors give so much of themselves, emotionally, mentally, and physically, often while placing their own wellbeing last. Looking after your health as a doctor is not a luxury, but a vital part of sustaining a long, meaningful career in medicine.

At Drs4Drs, we are here to support doctors at every stage, in every setting. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, navigating burnout, or simply need someone to talk to, confidential help is always available.

If you or a colleague need support, reach out to our confidential support line on 1300 374 377 or visit www.drs4drs.com.au

As we had into the Easter break, we wish everyone a safe and restful holiday. The Easter period is often associated with stepping away from work, family, and time together, but for many doctors it can feel quite different. Long shifts, time away from loved ones, and the ongoing responsibility of caring for others can make this period challenging and, at times, isolating.

To the doctors working over Easter, thank you. Your commitment ensures care continues when it is needed most, even while others are able to pause. We recognise the pressures this time can bring and want you to know that support is always available.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, lonely, or simply need someone to talk to, confidential support is available for you and your family. Call 1300 374 377 or visit www.drs4drs.com.au.

Today is National Doctors’ Day, an important opportunity to acknowledge doctors for the care, dedication, and quiet resilience they bring to their work every day. Medicine can be deeply meaningful, but it can also be demanding and emotionally heavy, especially when doctors are expected to keep going without stopping to care for themselves.

At Drs4Drs, we believe doctors deserve the same compassion and support they so readily give to others. Supporting doctors’ wellbeing is essential to sustaining a healthy profession and a strong health system. Today, and every day, we recognise doctors and reaffirm that help, understanding, and connection should always be close at hand.

If you are a doctor and need support, Drs4Drs provides access to free, confidential assistance. Call the 24/7 doctors’ health line on 1300 374 377 or visit www.drs4drs.com.au to learn more.

On International Women’s Day, we pause to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary women who shape medicine, care for communities, and support those who care for others. Women in medicine lead, innovate, and advocate across every discipline. Bringing expertise, compassion, and resilience to a demanding profession.

We also honour the women working in doctor health and wellbeing, often behind the scenes, who ensure that those who dedicate their lives to caring for others are themselves seen, supported, and protected. Their work is emotionally intelligent, deeply skilled, and deeply impactful, often carried out quietly behind the scenes.

These women create pathways for doctors to seek help without fear or judgement. They hold space in difficult moments, bring calm to crisis, and humanise systems that can feel overwhelming. There efforts ripple across hospitals, practices, families, and communities.
Today and every day, we acknowledge the women who care for the carers, their leadership, courage and compassion shown day after day. Thank you for supporting, uplifting and sustaining the medical profession.

Happy International Women’s Day.

Today, with the help of AMA Australian Medical Association - Tasmania and the instigation of one very dedicated doctor we hosted our first casual morning tea for retired doctors, providing a welcoming space to reconnect.

We were extremely fortunate to be joined by Dr. Ruth Kearon, Head of the Tasmanian School of Medicine, who shared updates on the school, and AMA Tasmania CEO Lara Giddings, both of whom thoroughly enjoyed the morning and welcomed discussions on ways retired doctors can continue contributing to the medical community. It is vital for doctors to have a rounded life with other interests outside of medicine, and to nurture relationships outside of work.

There are plans afoot for another gathering February in Hobart and one in the north as well - so watch this space.

On June 1st, Drs4Drs Tasmania was so lucky to be joined by Professor Michael Kidd, Dr. Andrew Mulcahy, Dr. Annette Barratt, Dr. Juliet Tait, and many dedicated doctors and medical students from across the state. Together, we spent the morning focused on what it looks like to support our own health and by doing so patients and others in the medical field, especially during life's challenging periods.

We are incredibly grateful to our outgoing Medical Director, Dr. Annette Barratt, and warmly welcome Dr. Juliet Tait. A heartfelt thank you to Professor Kidd, Dr. Mulcahy, and all participants for their time and insights. Your contributions are invaluable in helping us spread this vital message of support and resilience. Drs4Drs Tasmania
