We have a look into how to exist in Compassion
The Fourth Floor

It is common when we have experienced trauma that we can blame ourselves for the events that occurred. Practicing self-compassion involves treating oneself with kindness and understanding. Compassionately challenging self-critical thoughts and replace them with self-affirming statements, can be helpful, as long as we do it with gentleness and not added or more blame.

We have a look into how to exist in and with self awareness

Sometimes it can be challenging to check in with how are, to bring an awareness to our self, just as we are directly experiencing. Sometimes intense emotions, thoughts and physical pain can be there. So sometimes we may have the capacity just to bravely dip our tops into noticing what is present.

In self awareness we have choice, we have choice to what degree we would like to stay with something, we can cultivate the ability to shift our focus when something feels too much to be with, and also at times we may choose to compassionately stay with uncomfortable experiences so we are not trapped by them and instead have understanding for them. We can go gently into the more challenging spaces of our minds, bodies, and emotions, and via doing this we release the intensity of the trauma that can get trapped physically, mentally and emotionally, through compassionate present understanding.

Brief look into the first session
7th June - How do we feel an embodied sense of security?

Not feeling safe in our body’ is something many experience. It shows up in different ways depending on the trauma and internalised experiences that have caused a baseline feeling of lack of safety.

A little of my own exploration on this and self inquiry
If I were to feel more safe, I would also have a less of a need to control everything around me, I could let go a little, and breath. So my next focus became understanding how to create feelings of safety for myself, and there are many different ways I can help facilitate this.

I'm running a four session trauma informed yoga seres

Trauma is an event that has happened but has had a lasting impact on the mind-emotions and often body, in a way that causes distress and suffering. We can heal from traumas (past events that have lasting suffering impacts) by creating safety mentally-emotionally-physically, with patience, care, and through compassionate awareness.

These four sessions are exploring

May 3rd - What it is to feel safety �
"I don’t need to be stronger, I just need to feel safe"
It’s very easy to get disembodied. We disconnect from our body’s wisdom because we override our needs out of understandable fear responses. Letting my body gradually and gently have a say as much or even more at time than my mind, through creating safety has been an incredibly important practice for me in making my body and therefore mind experience safety and integrate experiences that were highly stressful and relief states of trauma (frozen passed suffering experiences).

10th - What it is to be in Self-Acceptance
Rebuilding self-acceptance begins with acknowledging and validating emotions that arise from stresses or traumas. Being able to express feelings without judgment can help to process experiences and move towards healing.�

17th - What it is to cultivate Compassionate Awareness�

Compassionately challenging self-critical thoughts and cultivating self-affirming language, can be helpful, as long as we do it with gentleness and not added or more blame.

24th - What is it to live with Courage�
Reminding ourselves of our strengths and past resilience in coping with life's challenges can be really important in bringing back perspective of our ability to know we have capacity to deal with challenge. By highlighting our own ability to endure and overcome adversity, we may realise there is hope and find our inner confidence in our ability to make progress and release stresses and traumas.
