We had a fabulous event at the Barossa Park Community Centre last Thursday for Advance Care Planning week. It was wonderful to enjoy afternoon tea together and speak to residents from the Barossa Park retirement village, as well as members of the public 🍪🫖
We were able to discuss advance care planning, identifying and working through some of the challenges that people have found when thinking about and going through their own advance care planning journey. These discussions were insightful, both for attendees and for OneCare, informing how we continue to support older people in planning for the future.
If you'd like further support with advance care planning or missed the session but would like to learn more, please get in touch - we're happy to help!
Join us on March 19th for an Advance Care Planning info session and afternoon tea!🫖
Advance Care Planning is when you think about the health care you want in the future and talk about it with someone you trust. We're holding an info session to coincide with National Advance Care Planning Week, empowering you to plan with confidence and peace of mind.
Join us for a cuppa while we cover what advance care planning is and why it matters, how to start conversations with family and loved ones, and where to access forms and support. Following the info session, we will be available to assist with writing Advance Care Directives for those who wish.
We'll also give a brief overview of how to navigate aged care at home in light of recent changes to the Support at Home program and provide information on OneCare’s Home Care services.

In a lovely day for love at Barossa Park, we had not one, not two, but three residents celebrated in the news on Valentine's Day! 💝
As well as covering Von Taylor's 100th birthday, 7NEWS Tasmania also spoke to residents Ted and Patsy, who've been married 71 years. Their secret? "A kiss in the morning, a kiss at night... and behave yourself in between!"

Another lovely birthday tribute to our Von on Pulse Tasmania! 🍾💐
Von Taylor has celebrated her 100th birthday in Glenorchy on Valentine's Day yesterday, receiving letters from King Charles III, the Governor General and the Prime Minister.
The 100yo marked the milestone with family at Barossa Park Lodge, where Glenorchy Mayor Sue Hickey presented the royal recognition.
Born in England in 1926, Taylor worked manufacturing aircraft during World War II before later migrating and living across Australia and New Zealand.
She eventually settled in Tasmania, describing Australia as a place that allowed her to “be yourself and follow your own wishes without having to conform to what would have been expected back in Britain".

Love of a different kind was in the air on Saturday, as the family and friends of Von Taylor gathered from around the world to celebrate a very special Valentine on her 100th birthday! 🎂🥂
Barossa Park resident Yvonne Valentine Mary Clark, now Taylor – named for her day of birth – was born in Portsmouth, England on 14 February 1926. Around 20 of her loved ones travelled from as far afield as Perth, Melbourne, New Zealand and the UK for her birthday high tea, which we were delighted to host.
Glenorchy Mayor Sue Hickey was on hand in her mayoral regalia to present the congratulatory letters from King Charles III, the Governor General and Prime Minister.
Happy birthday Von, and thanks to Lily and the team 7NEWS Tasmania for the lovely tribute!

Be part of an inclusive, vibrant, supportive community.
Residents, staff, pets, volunteers, family and friends all help to create an atmosphere that is welcoming, fun and comfortable. It’s everything you need, all in the one place.
There is always something happening at OneCare’s Barossa Park Village. Whether it be aquatic exercise groups or Tai Chi at the YMCA Wellness and Community Centre, weekly visits from the Tiny Tackers Children’s Centre or live music and delicious coffee with a toasted sandwich at our busy café. You will be spoilt for choice.
Just down the road is the nearby shopping precinct of Glenorchy, including a close by medical centre, pharmacy, supermarket, cinema, cafes, restaurants, a travel agent, green parks, playgrounds and a local library.
Our green courtyard spaces are filled with plants and flowers and the ideal place to relax and have a chat with friends or perhaps steal some ‘me’ time and put your head into a good book.
Creating community connections
We are proud of our close relationship with students and teachers from the nearby Primary Schools who visit every week. We believe that spending time with children and teenagers is not only important for developing social connections for residents, but also for the children who appear to thrive when they have the chance to learn from older generations, sharing stories, activities and experiences to create life-long memories.
