Babies show us early, mid and late cues that they are hungry. The best time to latch them to the breast is just as they are stirring or moving their hand to their mouth, rooting around. If baby is crying and agitated, this is a late sign they are hungry. We know many babies can go from 0-100 very quickly! its important to calm them down before attempting to feed. You can do this by placing them upright on your chest, letting them suck on your finger or stroke their head & calmly talk to them. Once they have settled then move them gently down to the breast to start breastfeeding.
