As you might be aware, a bike lane is being installed in Collins Street on both sides of the road.

For this week, no parking will be available on both sides of the road.

Once installed, there will only be 8 car parks between Molle and Barack Street.

Please allow more time when coming for your dental appointment and look for parking in Molle Street, Liverpool, Macquarie or Barrack Street.

Today we had our Christmas lunch at The Salty Dog Hotel. Was lovely catching up outside work with these amazing people and their families. What a privilege to work with this team, they feel more like family than colleagues. ❤️

We personally feel proceeding with the bike lanes would be discrimination against the very young, people with young families, the elderly and people with disabilities. Please let us work together to accomodate everyone in Hobart.

Frustrated businesses are gearing up to challenge the Hobart City Council over its controversial plan to remove 49 car parks along both sides of Collins Street for a dual cycle lane trial.

The Confederation of Greater Hobart Business is threatening to move ahead with initiating a costly elector poll, potentially burdening ratepayers with a $200,000 bill.

Owners of local businesses on Collins Street, including Hobart Family Dental (pictured), Fullers Book Shop and Bed Bath N' Table, say council hasn't engaged in any consultation with them over the plans.

The owners, many of whom are cyclists themselves, warn the lack of adequate parking for customers and deliveries as a result of the bike lanes could kill their businesses.

The City of Hobart say they conducted 65 face to face conversations and two business information sessions before announcing their plan.
