Thank you to the Minister and to our MHCT members for joining us yesterday for a productive discussion about the challenges and opportunities facing Tasmania’s community-managed mental health sector.

Is it still a Roundtable if there is no round table?

A very constructive conversation nonetheless with representatives from across the mental health community sector yesterday.

Thank you to everyone that came along and shared their valuable insights.

It is National Carers Week, a time to recognise, celebrate and raise awareness about the 3 million Australians who provide care to a family member or friend.

This year’s theme is, “You are, know, or will be one,” highlighting the widespread nature of caring – it affects virtually every person at some point in their lives.

It’s World Mental Health Day, and we’re taking a mental health day ourselves (a little forced, but probably needed 🫶)

As Mental Health Week comes to a close, with the theme “Appreciate the Little Things,” I’ve found myself appreciating so many things. The quiet moments, the many supportive faces, and the wins, which they have all felt a bit bigger lately.

For me, my journey with mental health has been a mix of learning, unlearning, and finding balance again and again. Some days it’s a walk and deep breath, other days it’s rest, a real rest, and sometimes it’s simply letting things be unfinished.

What are you doing to take care of your mental health today? 💙

As part of 2025 Mental Health Week, today Derwent Valley Youth Future Action Team (D’FAT) in-partnership with Brighton Youth Action Group (BYAG) attended and participated in the Mental Health Council of Tasmania (MHCT) Youth Peer Wellbeing Program.

The Peer Wellbeing Program uses the Take a minute campaign to provide peer-to-peer education on mental health and wellbeing awareness within your community.
It gives young people the knowledge, skills and resources to engage their friends, family and community in understanding what positive mental health and wellbeing looks like and how to maintain it.

Mental Health Week 2025 is coordinated by the Mental Health Council of Tasmania and supported by the Tasmanian Government.

Today, 10 October, is World Mental Health Day! This year, Mental Health Australia’s theme for World Mental Health Day is ‘Connect with your community’.

Connecting with our communities – the people and places where we feel safe, seen and heard – can help us feel cared for and supported, which is good for our mental health.
