Australia has the highest melanoma rates in the world with 1 Australian diagnosed with melanoma every 30 minutes! During a routine assessment Nick uncovered a nasty melonoma on the bottom of Christine's left foot resulting in a major excision of the nasty lesion encompassing her whole arch region. This highlights the importance of regular skin checks and awareness about melonoma which ensures timely interventions and better outcomes for all. Christine has made a successful recovery and is now walking pain free from an extensive recovery period.

We are excited to announce we have introduced a new treatment all the way from Switzerland. Radial Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy will now be offered at Claremont Podiatry.

What is Shockwave Therapy?

It has proven its efficacy in many clinical trials and studies, where it is referred to as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT). Shockwave Therapy is a non-surgical method providing fast pain relief and mobility restoration. A pneumatic generator delivers high intensity ultrasound waves through the skin into the injured tissue leading to faster and long-term healing and regeneration of the tissue. It helps relieve pain and repair injury, even when the problem has been persisting for years.

Acoustic waves generated by the shockwave trigger are transmitted through the surface of the skin radially, triggering the tissue to respond with increased metabolic activity around the area of the pain, stimulating healing. It is an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain, with no need for painkillers.

What can Radial Shockwave Therapy treat?

It can treat a variety of conditions, some of which are:

* Plantar Fasciitis
* Heel Pain
* Achilles Tendinopathy
* Heel Spurs
* Delayed Non-unions (Bone Healing)
* Knee Pain
* Shin splints
