1 in 16 babies born in Australia is now conceived through IVF, according to Professor Georgina Chambers 👶

And worldwide, a child is born via IVF every 35 seconds ⏱️ a powerful reflection of how far reproductive science has come 🔬

Rebecca Featherstone, one of Australia’s first IVF babies, is now an IVF advocate, a valued member of the Virtus Health team and the creative genius behind Big Miracles.

“What’s fascinating,” she says, “is that people conceived through IVF have gone on to have their own families, so it has created a whole other generation that would never have been here if it wasn’t for that science.”

AI S***m Selection Breakthrough 🧬

A groundbreaking Australian-led study unveiled at ESHRE, the largest fertility conference in Europe, is offering new hope to couples facing the most severe forms of male infertility.

IVFAustralia Embryologist Dale Goss shared how AI S***mSearch - developed by Virtus Health, NeoGenix Biosciences, and top researchers – can work alongside embryologists to detect up to 3x more s***m in the most severe infertility cases, cutting search time by 75%.

Dale says, “This study is centred on patients with severe male factor infertility - those with almost no chance of a biological child. For many, this represents a final opportunity, and without the support of AI, that chance may never come.”

33 couples took part in the pilot study, with the first AI-assisted birth in January.
We’re excited about the future of this technology. Read more at the link in bio 🔗

Tasmanian women struggling with fertility costs could soon receive up to $2,000 in government support under a new subsidy program announced by the Liberals.

The election promise would support around 2,500 Tasmanian women with out-of-pocket costs for in vitro fertilisation (IVF), assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatments and fertility preservation services.

The pledge is part of a broader women’s health package from the Liberals, which also includes four new BreastScreen clinics across the state and extra funding for women’s health service The Bubble.

If re-elected, the Liberal government also plans to push the federal government to subsidise non-invasive prenatal testing.
