Remember to stay hydrated through the cooler months!

Our thirst receptors are not as loud when the weather gets cooler, but we need to drink as much water in winter as in the summer, if not more!

If you’re sitting in the same room as the clothes drying on the rack, you are drying out just as much as the clothes!

Make sure you’re drinking enough water for your individual needs and body constitution!

If you’re not sufficiently hydrated, our bodies cannot heal and regenerate, or eliminate waste and toxins to its full potential!

Liquid hydrogen and oxygen is H2O!
How much water to drink a day, do you Know?
Like our pot plants, to thrive and Grow!
We need water for your Qi & Blood to Flow!

The 23rd of July signified the beginning of the Da Han (Great/Big Cold) Season!
Calculated as The Last/24th Solar Term, of the 24 Solar Term Cycle.
A calendar system breaking the year into 24 sub-categories of seasons/weather patterns from the 4 main seasons of the year.
This system is based on the position of the Sun’s Celestial Longitude.

It represents the time of the year where the Qi (Vital Energy) transitions into the peak of YIN QI, just before it flips and the Yang Qi starts to awaken and rise.

It is the time where the leaves and grass have retreat deep into the earth and the animals hide and hibernate.
We need to follow the principle of:
“NOURISH THE YIN & DEFICIENCIES, DO NOT DISTURB THE YANG!”

It is the time to rest, heal and regenerate before the Qi starts to rise for the Spring.

Winter is represented by the Element of Water (in the Chinese 5 Elements Principles) which also corresponds the the Kidney and Urinary Bladder organs. That is why some people tend to p*e more when they are cold. Therefore part of a treatment plan will incorporate aspects of supporting the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder at this time of the year.

We can focus on particular foods herbs and spices, and particular simple and easy to incorporate lifestyle enhancers to ensure your Best Health!

Rich proteins, fats & carbohydrates which are heat producing nutrients should be consumed. Focus on foods containing particular Vitamins, like C & A, as well as Iodine and Methionine, to stimulate thyroxine production and intern would accelerate cell oxidation, to allow for the body’s cells to adapt to a colder climate.

If the body is not healthy and in balance during this season, symptoms and conditions could be triggered or become worse, like asthma, fatigue, poor concentration and poor memory, insomnia (difficulty getting to sleep or difficulty staying asleep through the night), lung and heart conditions, easy injury to, and aches and pains in, the muscles, tendons and ligaments.

It is important to Support and Balance the Weaknesses and Deficiencies during this time of the Regenerative Waters of the Great Winter Cold season, before the warmer season of Spring (Wood Element) begins.
Otherwise the Rising Wood Qi of the season of Spring will not be balanced and free flowing within the body, affecting the body’s strength, and mind’s clarity and calm.

That is why it is important to ensure you receive the best care, specifically tailored to your needs, for your body’s constitution and lifestyle, to achieve your upmost feeling of Wellbeing, for not just your Body, but also you Mind & Spirit!

Cupping, moxibustion and acupuncture are some of the tools used by Chinese medicine practitioners to restore a person's balance and wellbeing!

Drawing out tension and cold, dispelling stagnations and pathogens, as well as strengthening the body's systems, are ways in which we can alleviate pain and discomfort, and to begin returning good health to the Body, Mind & Spirit!

Humans are made up of approximately (mass %):
65% Oxygen and 10% Hydrogen.
Along with other vitamins and minerals and trace elements like Carbon and Nitrogen.

Water= H2O (HOH)
H= Hydrogen (2 atoms)
O= Oxygen (1 atom)
Therefore an average human consists of approximately 75% water.
However, this does depend on age and gender. Higher in infants up to 78%, lower in elderly down to 50%.
Fatty body tissue contains less water than lean body tissue.

The water in our body is mainly seen as blood.
If we are dehydrated, not having enough water in our bodies, our blood becomes thicker and our circulation slows down.

The blood carries the oxygen and nutrients, vitamins and minerals required by the body to heal and function properly.
As well as carrying the waste materials and toxins to be processed by the body and eliminated.

If the blood becomes thicker and slower it cannot efficiently bring in the nutrients or remove the waste materials.
This causes aches, pains and illness.

Drinking more water will ensure we are sufficiently hydrated, allowing the blood to flow smoothly and efficiently through our bodies, to prevent or hinder illness.

Traditional diets/meal usually consisted of hot teas or soups to help activate and hydrate the digestive system, before sitting down to the main bulk of the meal.

Sun Simiao Oath!

“I promise to follow the way of the great physician.
I will serve to live in harmony with nature, and teach patients to do the same.

I will stay calm and completely committed when treating disease.
I will not give way to personal wishes and desires, but above all else hold and nurture a deep feeling of compassion.

I will be devoted to the task of saving the sacred spark of life in every creature that still carries it. I will strive to maintain a clear mind and be willing to hold myself to the highest standards.

It will be my duty to diagnose suffering and treat disease. I will not be boastful about my skills and not be driven by greed for material things.

Above all, I will keep an open heart. As I move on the right path I will receive great happiness as a reward without asking for anything in return.”
