Jabiru Practicum Applications Now Open and Spots are Filling Rapidly!
If you are an experiential learner, this immersive professional development opportunity is for you!

Jabiru 2026 will take 14 practicums in 2026, and applications are now open! Spaces do fill quickly, so register your intent early to ensure your place.
Dates are:
April 11 - full day of practicum lectures at The Sensory Gym
April 12 - full Jabiru orientation at the YMCA Yarramundi
April 13 - 17 - Jabiru

Your learning experience will be guided by Tracy Stackhouse and Lynette Burke. Leading clinicians from North America and Australia will complete the clinical support team. The best and brightest clinicians in Australia will lead each of the Jabiru groups.

Your learning experience includes:
Online access to the SpIRiT training with Tracy Stackhouse about 6 weeks before Jabiru
A full day of practicum lectures
Jabiru orientation
5 days of Jabiru, with specific practicum learning opportunities each day
Lodging and meals are also included

O Jabiru 2025 🍃☀️😊

We had the opportunity to run Jabiru as a day program with the “Jabiru Ham Superstars” this October school holidays.

It was such a fun filled week of exploring, connecting, and working together out in nature - So proud of this crew for bringing their energy and their best each day! ✨

Our team has spent 3 days deepening our knowledge on Polyvagal Theory with and had the opportunity to host a treatment exploration day at our clinic on the 4th day. We had the pleasure of learning from the brilliant minds of .stackhouse and . Thank you for an enriching and insightful few days! We enjoyed connecting with other therapists and expanding our understanding of the link between trauma, the power of connection through safety, and sensory integration in practice 🧠🪜🫂

The Sensory Gym is both proud and humbled to celebrate its 20th anniversary of providing exceptional occupational therapy services to children and families. In our tenure, we have had the privilege to work with families from across Australia. We originated as a one-room, sole provider business and have grown to a thriving clinic that has supported the growth of dozens of therapists and thousands of children and families. We have always had clarity in our mission, and this has held us steady through many changes in how paediatric occupational therapy services are delivered in Australia. We recognize that we are just a ripple in the pond and strive to make those ripples as positive and strength affirming as possible.
Today and twenty years ago:
We honour the child, not the challenge, and seek to support the child in showing and being all that they truly are. We recognise the power that belief, hope and love hold in the therapeutic process. We believe in what is possible, in what can be.
