What might bring a dog in for osteopathic care?
Sometimes it is not dramatic. It might just be that your dog is not moving quite like themselves.

You may notice they seem stiff getting up, slower on walks, reluctant to jump, less comfortable using the stairs, or just not as free and happy in their movement as usual.

Dogs may benefit from osteopathic support for general musculoskeletal comfort, mobility and movement, particularly when they are ageing, active, or not moving with their usual ease.

If your dog seems uncomfortable, sore, unwell, or has a sudden change in movement or behaviour, a veterinary assessment is important. Vet referral is always recommended.

He might be one of the biggest dogs we’ve ever had in clinic — I’ve genuinely seen smaller ponies 😅🐶🐴

This beautiful older Great Dane came in for a calm, hands-on canine osteopathy session focused on supporting comfortable movement and easy mobility. As our giant breeds age, those long limbs, big joints and heavy frames can place extra load through the hips, shoulders and spine. It’s common to notice them slowing down, hesitating before getting up, or being a little less keen on longer walks.

Our approach is gentle and tailored on the day, working through areas of tension and restriction to help them move as comfortably as possible.

We always recommend keeping your vet in the loop, especially with senior dogs, and we’re happy to liaise if needed.

If your older dog seems stiff, slower to rise, or just not quite themselves, you’re welcome to get in touch.

Did you know dogs can benefit from osteopathic care too?

Our canine osteopathy sessions are designed to gently assess your dog’s mobility, comfort, and overall movement patterns. Whether they’re a weekend adventurer, a seasoned ball-chaser, or simply starting to slow down a little, a session can help identify areas of tension or restriction and support their general wellbeing.

Many owners find it helpful for understanding how their dog is moving day-to-day, especially as they age, change activities, or recover from life’s usual bumps and tumbles.

If your four-legged family member could use a little extra support, feel free to get in touch or book a session. We’re here to help keep their tail wagging.

Our little fluffies have been stealing the show lately… and sometimes they bring a friend 🐾🐾💛

In this photo, our Osteopath Anna is working with two of our regular “little fluffies” during a canine osteopathy session. These sessions focus on:

Supporting comfortable movement and mobility

Easing general tension through the body

Helping dogs stay as active and engaged as they comfortably can

Every dog is different, so we take things at their pace – watching their body language closely, using hands-on techniques, and making sure they feel safe (with plenty of pats for the brave ones on the table).

👉 Important note: Canine osteopathy does not replace veterinary care. We prefer that all dogs are checked and cleared by their vet first, and we’re very happy to work alongside your veterinary team as part of a broader care plan.

If you’re curious whether canine osteopathy may be suitable for your little fluffies, you’re welcome to get in touch with us.
