✨ Meet Tiffany Gibbons | Provisional Psychologist ✨

We’re pleased to introduce Tiffany Gibbons, a provisional psychologist at The Mood & Mind Centre, working with children (5+), adolescents, and adults.

Tiffany brings a grounded, compassionate, and open-minded approach to therapy. She values creating a space where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood — a place to slow things down, make sense of what’s been weighing on them, and feel supported to move forward in ways that feel right for them.

Her work is informed and individualised, shaped by a strong background in special needs support and a deep respect for neurodiversity and individual differences. Tiffany approaches therapy with patience, flexibility, and care, recognising that everyone experiences the world in their own way.

Her therapeutic style is gentle, curious, and strengths-based. While she draws on evidence-based approaches, therapy is always tailored to the person — meeting clients where they are, at their own pace.

At the heart of Tiffany’s work is a belief that everyone has strengths, even when they feel hard to access. Therapy is a space for reflection, understanding, and reconnection.

🌿 WOW — it’s already February. 🌿

The February Reality Check

If the year feels like it’s moved faster than you expected, you’re not alone. The shift from January into February can bring a kind of emotional whiplash — routines return, expectations creep back in, and that “fresh start” feeling can fade quickly.

You might notice thoughts like:
“Shouldn’t I be more motivated by now?”
“I thought I’d feel more settled.”

This doesn’t mean you’ve fallen behind. February isn’t a test of how well you started the year — it’s simply where you are now.

It’s okay if you’re still adjusting. It’s okay if your energy feels different. It’s okay if clarity hasn’t arrived yet.

This month is an opportunity to slow the pace, check in with yourself, and meet the year as it actually is — not as you thought it should be.

As we move through February, we’ll be focusing on themes of self-compassion, emotional awareness, letting go of comparison, and reconnecting in ways that feel genuine and supportive.

You don’t need to rush this year.
You’re allowed to be exactly where you are.

If February is bringing up pressure, uncertainty, or self-doubt, please reach out to us at The Mood & Mind Centre. We’re here to support you.

🌿 Progress Doesn’t Need to Be Visible 🌿

💛 Not all progress shows up on the outside.
Some of the most meaningful growth happens quietly — beneath the surface, without milestones, announcements, or visible change.

💚 Emotional work is often invisible.
Learning to pause, reflect, set boundaries, or sit with discomfort doesn’t always look like “doing more,” but it matters deeply.

💙 Rest can be progress.
Taking a break, slowing down, or choosing not to push through exhaustion is your nervous system recovering and recalibrating.

🤍 Saying “no” can be progress.
Letting go of things that drain you, even when it feels uncomfortable, is a form of self-respect.

👉 You don’t need evidence or productivity to validate your experience.
👉 You don’t need to prove your growth for it to be real.

If your progress feels quiet, internal, or hard to explain — it still counts.

And if you’re feeling unsure, stuck, or wanting support as you navigate this inner work, please reach out to us at The Mood & Mind Centre. We’re here to support you with care and understanding.

🧠 Use It or Lose It: The Cognitive Cost of Overdependence on AI

AI is here to stay — but what happens when we stop thinking for ourselves?

Our latest blog explores how overreliance on AI tools may impact critical thinking, brain development, and long-term cognitive health — particularly for children, students, and future professionals.

From neuroplasticity and the “use it or lose it” principle, to why challenge and effort are essential for a healthy brain, this blog encourages thoughtful, balanced use of AI — not avoidance, but awareness.

Wishing Everyone a Gentle Start Back to School

As the school year begins, we’re wishing all students a great first day back and a positive year ahead — whether you’re returning to familiar classrooms or stepping into something brand new.

To those starting a new school, a new year level, or school for the very first time — it’s okay if you’re feeling excited, nervous, or somewhere in between. New beginnings can bring big feelings.

And to the parents and carers — especially those sending little ones off for the first time — this transition can bring its own mix of pride, worry, and emotion. You’re not alone in that either.

We hope today is filled with moments of reassurance, courage, and kindness — for students and families alike.

If the transition back to school feels challenging in the days, weeks or months ahead, please reach out to us at The Mood & Mind Centre. We’re here to support children, teens, and families throughout the year.

🌿 When Back-to-School Stress Starts to Build 🌿

As the school year approaches, many families notice stress creeping in — for both parents and children.
Mornings feel rushed, routines are shifting again, emotions run high, and the mental load of “getting everything ready” can feel heavy.

▪ For children and teens, returning to school can bring a mix of feelings: excitement, nervousness, worries about friendships or expectations, and tiredness as routines change.
▪ Parents and carers often carry this too, juggling logistics, emotional support, and work demands.

If things feel tense or harder than expected, that’s not a sign something is wrong. Transitions place extra demands on nervous systems — especially after time away from routine.

One gentle way to ease the pressure is preparing where you can. Small, practical steps — like talking through the first day, laying out clothes the night before, or slowly shifting sleep and morning routines — can help reduce the load when everything feels new again.

There’s no “right” way to do this. Every child adjusts differently. Every family’s rhythm looks different.

If your child is feeling overwhelmed — or if you’re feeling stretched as a parent — please reach out to us at The Mood & Mind Centre. We’re here to support children, teens, and families through transitions with care and understanding.

🌿 Letting Go of Comparison as the New Year Settles In

As January moves along, comparison can quietly creep in. The “new year” energy is still everywhere — routines set, goals underway, social media full of progress updates and polished versions of life. It can start to feel like everyone else is moving forward faster, doing more, or doing it better.

A gentle reminder: social media shows highlights, not reality.

Behind the habits, achievements, and fresh starts are real lives — with rest days, uncertainty, setbacks, and moments of self-doubt that rarely make it online. If your year hasn’t unfolded the way you imagined — or if your pace feels slower, quieter, or different — that doesn’t mean you’re behind.

Your pace is allowed to look different. Your path is allowed to change.

Progress doesn’t always look visible or impressive. Sometimes it looks like pausing, recalibrating, getting through hard days, or choosing care over pressure. You don’t need to prove anything this year.
You’re allowed to move forward in ways that feel sustainable and true to you.

If comparison is weighing on you as the year continues, please reach out to us at The Mood & Mind Centre. We’re here to support you with care, clarity, and perspective.
