National Volunteer Week// This week, we celebrate and thank our incredible volunteers for everything they do.
From the early mornings and late-night finishes, bush bashing alongside the bikes (and the occasional native wildlife encounter), to Marine Rescue training and weekend sporting events spent RICE-ing injuries and applying blister patches at running races. From handing out bandaids at school fetes and ice packs at pole dancing competitions, to supporting the many and varied events at the Easter Show, plus many more —
Thank you for your dedication, compassion, empathy, and unwavering support of our community.
Here’s to the free snags, lifelong friendships, and the vital first aid skills that make a real difference every day.

Heart Week 4-10 May// Our Cadets explain that the warning signs and symptoms of heart attack can vary. Symptoms can start suddenly, or develop over time and get progressively worse. People can have just one symptom or a combination of symptoms. The patient can feel discomfort or pain in the centre of the chest. According to The Heart Foundation not all patients feel chest discomfort (more than 40% of women do not experience chest pain)

Never miss a BEAT!

International Nurses Day// today we give thanks to the wonderful nurses, not only within our community, but world wide. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their compassion, skill, strength and commitment.

International Nurses Day is celebrated world wide on 12 May; the birth date of Florence Nightingale.

The theme for 2025 is “Our Nurses. Our Future - Caring for nurses strengthens economies” that builds on the success of the 2024 theme, “The Economic Power of Care”. The 2025 theme shifts focus to the health and wellbeing of nurses.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget
