🌟 SERVICES SPOTLIGHT – GROWTH & WELLBEING ULTRASOUND 🌟

A growth and wellbeing ultrasound can be done at any time throughout the third trimester, from 23 weeks onwards. Your referring doctor will determine the most appropriate time for you to have this scan, based on how your pregnancy has been going.

Purposes of a Growth and Wellbeing Scan:
• Measure the baby’s growth
• Check the position of the placenta.
• Measure the length of your cervix.
• Check the volume of amniotic fluid.

Preparation for your scan:
• Bring your referral with you to your appointment.
• Depending on how many weeks pregnant you are, you may need a full bladder for this ultrasound. This will be discussed with you upon booking your appointment.

Depending on the position of your baby we will endeavour to obtain 3D/4D images, however sometimes visibility may be limited due to baby being much larger towards the end of the pregnancy.

🎗️ March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 🎗️

Endometriosis is a long-term condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. It can lead to significant pelvic pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, infertility, and other ongoing complications. According to Endometriosis Australia, 1 in 7 women are diagnosed with endometriosis by the age of 49.

🔎 How Can Specialist O&G Sonographers Help?
➤ Using advanced ultrasound techniques, they can detect ovarian endometriomas and deep infiltrating endometriosis.
➤ Provide detailed imaging that supports gynaecologists in planning appropriate, individualised treatment.
➤ Contribute to earlier diagnosis, helping to reduce delays and improve overall patient outcomes.

February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Each year in Australia around 1,900 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In the image below you will find information about some of the signs and symptoms to be aware of.

At the Women’s Imaging Group, we understand how crucial early detection is for ovarian cancer. A pelvic ultrasound can be used to assess the ovaries and surrounding pelvic organs. It plays an important role in:
✔️ Visualising the ovaries and uterus
✔️ Identifying cysts, masses, or structural changes
✔️ Helping guide further investigation when needed

Our experienced sonographers perform comprehensive pelvic ultrasound examinations using high quality imaging techniques to support accurate assessment and clinical decision making.

Contact Northern Women's Imaging if you need to book an appointment.

• Potentially aid the early detection of any major structural abnormality

Preparation for your scan:
• Bring your referral with you to your appointment.
