Therapy & Learning Centre Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy services for babies, children and adolescents. No referral is necessary.

Therapy & Learning Centre aims to promote development of age appropriate gross and fine motor skills from babies to 18 years of age. We can help:

- Children/adolescents with poor pencil grip

- Children/adolescents with handwriting problems, or difficulty with writing speed or copying skills

- Children/adolescents with poor coordination

- Preschoolers with laterality problems or undecided hand preference

- Babies and infants who are not enjoying tummy time, not rolling/crawling or reaching other milestones

- Late walkers, toe walkers, or children who seem to walk pigeon toed or have flat feet

- Babies are favouring turning their head to one side or have flattening on one side of the head.

Handwriting difficulties can have a significant impact on the academic performance of high school students, contributing to illegible handwriting and impaired handwriting speed. This is detrimental to the student in both classroom and exam situations.

Students with handwriting difficulties often find it hard to complete work in the set time frame. Students with illegible handwriting frequently miss out on valuable marks due to difficulty deciphering what the student has written.

Our therapists are experienced in assessing and treating high school students with handwriting difficulties, assisting them to improve their skills and written output.

Here are some tips on preparing for the HSC and getting an early start on study!

#1 Choose your study space
Choose a space thats free from distractions where you can study and not be disturbed.

#2 Start early
Staying organised and on top of your study throughout the year will help prevent unnecessary stress as exams draw closer.

#3 Create a realistic study plan
Schedule a manageable study timetable, don't forget to make time for hobbies, exercise, social activities and a good nights sleep! Think about the time of day when you work best and plan your study around those hours.

#4 Test yourself
After reading information make up questions and to test yourself to see how well you absorbed the information. Try teaching topics it to someone else, this is the best way to figure out the topics you’re confident in and the ones that need more revision.

#5 Take care of your health
Regular exercise, 8-10 hours of quality sleep, eating well and taking time for yourself, your social life and your hobbies are fundamental to keep your brain and body happy which will benefit your study!

Here is what to expect following your child's assessment at Therapy and Learning Centre.

- After your child's assessment the therapist will score and interpret results and prepare a report.
- Reports usually take 4-6 weeks to be completed. Once the report is completed, a report back session will be booked.
- Following the report back session, ongoing therapy sessions can be booked.
- In some cases therapy will be commenced immediately following an assessment and will going sessions can be booked.
