👨‍👧‍👦 Father Figures Matter — Especially to Neurodivergent Kids 💙

This Father’s Week, we’re shining a light on something powerful: the unique and vital role dads and father figures play in the emotional development of children — especially those who are neurodivergent.

In a world that can feel overwhelming or confusing, many neurodivergent children find safety in the steady, grounded presence of a father or male caregiver. Whether it’s parallel play with Lego, a shared obsession with Pokémon, or silent companionship on a walk — connection doesn’t have to be loud to be meaningful.

💡 Research tells us that secure father-child relationships:
• Foster self-esteem and emotional regulation
• Support social development
• Help children feel understood and accepted — just as they are

So to all the dads showing up in quiet, powerful ways… we see you. You are making a difference.

🧠 If you're wanting support or tools to better connect with your child — we’re here to help.

👨‍👧‍👦 Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Spencer Health 💙

Today we celebrate all the dads, stepdads, foster dads, grandpas, uncles, and father figures who show up with love, patience, humour, and strength — especially when it’s hard.

To the dads supporting their neurodivergent kids with fierce love and gentle understanding…
To the dads breaking cycles, being vulnerable, and growing alongside their children…
To the dads who are trying their best, even when they’re not sure what the next step is…

We see you. We value you. And we’re here for you too.

Thank you for all you do.

🧠💙

🌿 Celebrating Women’s Health Week in Ryde 🌿

This week, Spencer Health was proud to contribute to Ryde Council’s Women’s Health Week with a presentation by Clinical Psychologist Emma Spencer on “The Modern Woman’s Mental Load and Burnout.” The in-person session was a rich and honest discussion about the invisible pressures many women carry—and how they impact mental health and wellbeing.

This presentation will be offered again online on Thursday at 11 am, allowing more women to join the conversation.

Ryde Council has put together a fantastic calendar of events this week, including:
🧘 Gentle yoga
🫁 Breathwork and mindfulness
💬 Workshops on hormone health, digestion, and mental wellbeing

🌙 Last Day of the Month: Time to Reflect 🌙

As we reach the final day of the month, it’s the perfect time to pause, breathe, and take stock.

This month may have brought wins and joy — or challenges and hard lessons. Perhaps it was a mix of both. No matter what unfolded, reflection helps us build self-awareness and move forward with intention.

✨ Psychological insight: Reflection taps into the principle of self-regulation — our ability to evaluate our own behaviour and make conscious choices about what we want to continue, change, or let go of. It’s the foundation of growth, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.

Here are a few prompts you can try:

What are you proud of this month?

What tested you — and what did you learn?

What do you want to bring with you into next month?

What is no longer serving you?

💜 Be gentle with yourself. Growth doesn’t always look like progress on paper — sometimes, it's just showing up, trying again, or learning to rest.

Here’s to a new month, and the possibilities it brings.

🌈💜 Wear It Purple Day at Hornsby! 💜🌈

Our Hornsby team proudly showed their support for LGBTQIA+ youth on Wear It Purple Day—a day that celebrates diversity, promotes inclusion, and reminds young people that they are seen, supported, and respected.

Mara, Anne, and Renae are rocking their purple with pride, while Yiing lent a powerful hand (literally!) with her wristband front and centre—showing that even the smallest gesture can help raise awareness and spark connection.

At Spencer Health, we believe in creating safe, affirming spaces for everyone. Today—and every day—we stand with LGBTQIA+ youth.

💜 Wear It Purple Day is Today! 💜

At Spencer Health, we’re proud to stand with LGBTQIA+ young people by celebrating Wear It Purple Day — a national day of awareness and inclusion.

This year's theme, "Write Your Story", highlights the importance of creating spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and safe to express who they are.

We're encouraging our whole team — and our community — to wear purple today to show your support and help spark conversations that matter. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels a sense of belonging 🌈

Our Story

We are a Private Multi-disciplinary Paediatric Clinic situated on Sydney's Upper North Shore. Our Philosophy is that "children are not things to be moulded, but people to be unfolded" and with this in mind our Mission is to provide an uncompromising quality of service to parents, children, adolescents and families so that they may achieve their full capacity in life. Our practice values focus on providing an environment and opportunities in which to nurture our clients, from which positive growth will occur, as we support each individual's development so that they may evolve into the humans they have the potential to become.
