“I support mandatory registration because having a single regulated framework promises consistency and accountability in quality of care and protection for participants, for your family member.” Geraldine Jeltes, Head of Clinical Governance and Risk
At Unisson, we strongly support this initiative as a step in the right direction. A single regulated framework strengthens accountability, improves consistency, and enhances protection for people living in SIL and their families.
From 1 July 2026, SIL providers will need to be registered NDIS providers.
What are your thoughts on this change? We will be sharing ours over the next few weeks.
We invite our peers, Aruma, Achieve Australia, Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Nextt, Sunnyfield Disability Services, Sylvanvale and Life Without Barriers, to share their thoughts and tag us as we work towards mandatory registration and stronger safeguards for people living in SIL.
If you need support navigating what this means for you or your family, reach out! We are here to help!

New year… new home? 👀🏡 Come take a tour with Georgia.
We’ve got a beautiful new Supported Independent Living home in Epping, and honestly, it’s a bit of a show-stopper. Light-filled, welcoming, and seriously spacious… the kind of place that just feels right the moment you walk in.
January vibe check with Monica 💫
The verdict: “Wow… this is good.”
and we’re feeling it too... 2026 is going to be a good year! Happy

Happy Friyay! Elias is back at it, continuing his amazing Batman series with his latest relief print on paper. His passion for art and his favourite hero shines through every detail! 💛🦸♂️
We love seeing Elias’s imagination grow with every piece he creates.
He has been part of the Pack Works crew since 2010 and he brings the kind of focus we all wish we had on a Monday. “I like collecting things, sorting boxes, and folding.”
He is also a big fan of sending emails, bushwalks, and out-swimming his dad.
Summer is in full swing, and we all want a dip in the ocean. That should be something everyone can enjoy! 💜

Barbie has just introduced its first Barbie representing a person living with autism. Designed with guidance from the autistic community and the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, this new Barbie sold out on pre-order in Australia within just two days! 💜
This wasn’t a surface-level attempt at inclusion.
The details are intentional: a fidget spinner that actually spins, noise-cancelling headphones, an AAC tablet, flexible wrists and elbows for common hand movements, and even a softer side gaze.
Our take? This is progress!
Representation in toys matters, because kids notice who gets to be seen, and who gets left out.
We’ve seen some criticism in the online comments, and that’s okay. Conversations about inclusion should be nuanced. But progress deserves recognition...especially when it’s informed by the very community it represents.
What would you like to see next in inclusive toys?
our only other thought… where’s Ken? 😉

🧠 What are Signs and Symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects how individuals communicate, interact, and process the world around them. Recognising the signs and symptoms is an important step toward understanding and supporting those with ASD.
From challenges with social communication to sensory sensitivities, autism presents uniquely in every individual. At Unisson, we believe that with awareness and understanding, we can create an inclusive society that values and supports the diverse experiences of people with ASD.

The most important thing you need to know about us... is Unisson. It means what you think it means. No hidden or cryptic messaging. It is simple. At Unisson, we aim to work with you. Alongside you. In collaboration. In relationship. In Unisson.
There is one part that probably needs an explanation - the double SS. This is to retain a connection to our history and our previous name SunShine.
When we talk about collaboration and partnership it means that your goals are our goals, we really mean that. Whatever you want out of life, and however you want to go about getting there, we are along for the ride with you, and the ride is what we do best!
You see, to us, the ride is the journey, the relationship we build with you. We believe relationships don't just make the world go round, they make it a better place for all of us to live.
We believe our people are different. We only employ good people, people who embody our values. Our people are the ones who want to make a difference in the world. We believe that small actions, create big impact. We are the man who will let you go first in the checkout when you have fewer items. We are the woman who smiled at you with comfort when your young child once again had a tantrum in the shopping centre. We are the people that when we ask, 'how are you?', we stop and really listen to hear how you are. We are the people that believe a more inclusive world for people with disability is possible and we know our everyday actions will help create it.
As an organisation, we've been around forever! Well not forever but close to it, 95 years! We are proud of our history not because it means we are old, but because it means we have nostalgic and inspiring beginnings to lean on. Read about our beginnings that continually inspire us towards our vision of a world where every person is welcomed - really welcomed not just waved at!
You can read about what is ahead for us in our strategic plan in a brief one-pager. We are excited about the future and all the great things that are possible when we work together in Unisson.
