Last night’s Mother’s Day Breathwork & Meditation Session was so incredibly special 🤍

To every beautiful soul who joined me, thank you!
Thank you for showing up for yourself, for allowing yourself to soften, breathe, rest and receive.

There was something so powerful about the energy in the room last night, women coming together in vulnerability, strength, love and deep connection. It was an honour to hold space for you all.

Watching you exhale, release, reconnect and simply be reminded me why I do this work.

I hope you left feeling supported, nourished, seen and deeply cared for, because you deserve that every single day, not just on Mother’s Day.

✨ Lately I’ve been really noticing how easy it is to slip into constantly being “on” ✨

Moving from one thing to the next,
holding a lot,
thinking about what’s next before we’ve even landed where we are.

And the body feels it.

The nervous system feels it.

Even when everything looks “fine” on the outside, there can be this underlying sense of tension, or just not quite being able to fully exhale.

I’ve been feeling the pull to slow things down again.
To create more space in my days to pause, even just for a few minutes.

Not to do more.
But to soften.
To come back into the body.
To feel a little more grounded.

Sometimes quietly.

Sometimes loudly.

Tension in the shoulders.
A tight chest.
Shallow breathing.
Digestive discomfort.
Fatigue that rest doesn’t seem to fix.

These are not random symptoms.

They are messages from your nervous system.

Signals that something inside your body is asking for attention, support, or safety.

For many people, we’ve learnt to ignore these signals.

Push through.
Stay busy.
Keep going.

But the body doesn’t stop speaking.

It simply speaks louder over time.

What if instead of fighting these signals, we learned to listen?

To slow down.

To support the nervous system.

To create space for the body to come out of survival mode and back into regulation.

Your nervous system might be stuck in survival mode.

Many people think stress only looks like feeling anxious or overwhelmed.

But when the nervous system stays switched on for too long, it can quietly show up in the body in many different ways.

You might notice things like:

✨ Tight shoulders, clenched jaw or headaches
✨ Feeling wired but exhausted
✨ Difficulty relaxing or slowing down

I created Holistic Haven Mindful Wellness to be more than just a wellness space.

A place where people can slow down.
Exhale.
And feel safe to land.

Because the truth is, so many people today are living with nervous systems that are constantly switched on.

Stress.
Overwhelm.
Pressure.
Trauma.
Burnout.

When the body stays in survival mode for too long, it can begin to show up in many ways, anxiety, exhaustion, chronic tension, poor sleep, emotional overwhelm, and feeling disconnected from yourself.

Your body isn’t broken.
Your nervous system is simply trying to protect you.

At Holistic Haven, the intention is to create a calm, nurturing environment where your body can begin to soften, regulate, and restore.

✨ Why Rest Doesn’t Always Feel Restful ✨

You can lie down.
You can take time off.
You can even do all the “right” self-care.

And still feel tense, wired, or unable to fully relax.

That’s because rest isn’t just about stopping, it’s about what state your nervous system is in.

When the nervous system is stuck in survival mode, the body stays alert even in stillness.
Muscles remain braced.
Breath stays shallow.
The mind keeps racing.

Stress patterns are held in the body, in muscles, breath, posture, and fascia.
Until the nervous system feels safe enough to shift into regulation, the body doesn’t fully let go.

True rest happens when the nervous system can move into parasympathetic regulation, the state where repair, digestion, release, and recovery occur.

This is why forcing relaxation rarely works.
The body doesn’t need more effort, it needs support to feel safe enough to soften.

You’re not doing rest wrong.
Your body is simply asking for the right conditions 🤍
