Tension headaches: When stress hits your neck, not just your mind 🤯💥

A dull, pressing pain around your temples or the back of your head? It could be a tension headache - and it’s one of the most common types out there.

Often triggered by stress, poor posture, or jaw clenching, tension headaches are linked to tight muscles in the neck, shoulders, and upper back. When those muscles become overworked or strained, they can refer pain up into the head.

Chiropractic care may help relieve discomfort by addressing the muscle tension, joint stiffness, and spinal misalignment that contribute to these headaches. We’ll also help you identify postural habits or lifestyle factors that might be setting them off.

Because less tension = fewer headaches = better days.

Pelvic Torsion: When Your Foundation Isn’t Level 🦴⚖️

Your pelvis is the structural base for your spine - and when it’s out of alignment, everything above (and below) can feel it.

Pelvic torsion happens when one side of the pelvis rotates forward or backward compared to the other, creating an uneven foundation. This twist can affect your posture, your gait, and even how force travels through your hips, back, knees and feet.

You might not even realise your pelvis is off; it can show up as lower back pain, hip discomfort, leg length differences, or that mysterious feeling of being "crooked" no matter how much you stretch.

At Back 4 Life Wellness Centre, we assess for imbalances like pelvic torsion and use targeted chiropractic techniques to help restore alignment, reduce tension, and get you moving more evenly again.

Been feeling a little lopsided lately? Let’s take a look.

🌍 Did you know? 🧬⚡
Your body doesn’t store energy like a battery. It creates it moment by moment in tiny structures called mitochondria – the powerhouses of your cells. These convert oxygen and nutrients into ATP, the molecule your body uses for energy.

To support healthy mitochondria:💧 Stay hydrated🥦 Eat nutrient-rich whole foods🫁 Move regularly to improve circulation😴 Prioritise sleep🧯 Reduce chronic inflammation🙌 Manage stress

That last one is where chiropractic care may be particularly helpful. By supporting spinal alignment and nervous system function, chiropractic care works to optimise the systems that regulate and nourish your cells, helping your mitochondria do what they do best – keep you energised.

🛠️🎉 Happy Birthday, Chiropractic! 🦴🎂

On this day in 1895, the very first chiropractic adjustment was performed - and a whole new approach to spinal health and wellbeing was born.

We’re proud to be part of that legacy - supporting people of all ages with hands-on care that’s focused on the spine, the nervous system, and the whole body in motion.

Here’s to 129 years of cracking on! 😉

Such wise words from the man who gave us Peter Pan, the boy who never wanted to grow up, but still somehow knew a thing or two about grown-up joy.

There’s magic in learning to enjoy the here and now. Not just the grand adventures, but the quiet rituals: your morning walk, your regular workout, even doing the dishes (no pixie dust required). There’s nothing wrong with mixing things up, but if you’re always chasing the new then you risk missing out on the now.

But if everyday movement starts to feel like a battle with your shadow, that can start to steal that joy. That’s where we come in. We support your spine, posture and mobility - so you can move freely, with less pain, and a little more joy.

Because when your body’s working well, life feels a little more… second star to the right. ✨

What small daily thing have you come to enjoy more lately? Let us know in the comments below 👇

R U OK? Day 💛

As chiropractors, we’re trained to look for misalignments; imbalances that can throw the whole system off. But not all misalignments are in the spine.
Sometimes life feels out of alignment too. And while we can’t adjust emotions the way we adjust vertebrae, we can remind you: you don’t have to carry the weight alone.

A simple check-in can make all the difference. Ask someone how they’re really going, and take time to ask yourself, too.

Let’s support each other to stand tall, inside and out.

Stat of the Month 📊
Did you know that 20–40% of adults over 60 are affected by age-related hyperkyphosis? That’s the excessive forward rounding of the upper spine - often seen as a hunched or stooped posture.

While some change in posture with age is natural, excessive curvature can lead to pain, balance problems, breathing difficulties, and reduced quality of life.
Chiropractors assess spinal alignment, mobility, and muscle imbalances to help manage posture-related conditions like hyperkyphosis, supporting older adults to move more freely and confidently.

Healthy posture isn’t just about standing tall - it’s about living well.

Know someone who’s struggling with their posture? Share this with them - or call Back 4 Life Wellness Centre on (03) 5381 1892 to learn more.

Quick Exercise: Kettlebell Swing 🏋️‍

Want power, posture and a stronger back? The kettlebell swing is your new best friend.

This dynamic move strengthens your glutes, hamstrings and core, all while reinforcing healthy hip movement and spinal control.

Start with feet shoulder-width apart, kettlebell in both hands. Hinge at the hips (don’t squat!), swing the kettlebell back between your legs, then drive through your hips to swing it to chest height. Your arms stay relaxed - the power comes from your hips, not your shoulders.

Done right, this is a brilliant way to boost strength and protect your spine. Done wrong… well, let’s not go there.

Got movement tips? Drop them in the comments.

Word of the Month: Geriatric 👵🧓
/ˌdʒɛr.iˈæt.rɪk/

Let’s clear something up… geriatric isn’t just a fancy word for “old.” It comes from the Greek gēras (meaning old age) and iatros (meaning healer or physician). First coined in the early 1900s, it literally means “healing of the aged.”

In healthcare, geriatric care refers to the specialised support of older adults, focusing on mobility, balance, joint health, and independence. And chiropractic care has a growing role here.

With gentle, tailored techniques, chiropractors can support age-related issues like spinal stiffness, posture changes, or general aches and pains - without medication or invasive treatment. Call us for an appointment at Back 4 Life Wellness Centre on (03) 5381 1892.

Because aging is inevitable - but discomfort doesn’t have to be.

If your hamstrings creak every time you bend down, or your spine feels like it missed the memo on mobility, you’re not alone. Flexibility often gets written off as a “nice to have,” but it plays a key role in comfort, function, and injury prevention — and the good news is, it’s not just for gymnasts.
