Meet Ellie, one of Anowah’s dedicated Support Coordinators. Recently, she worked alongside a client whose NDIS plan included an employment goal — building skills to join the workforce.

Together, they explored a range of opportunities and found the perfect fit: a Barista Program designed to build hospitality work readiness skills.

Through hands-on training, the client is working towards developing valuable skills in customer service, time management, teamwork, and workplace confidence, leading to employment opportunities in the hospitality field.

At Anowah Community Living, we believe that genuine inclusion starts with meaningful experiences. Thanks to the generous support of Cabravale Club Resort through the 2025 Club Grants program, we’ve secured $18,560 to expand the programs that matter most to our clients.

This funding strengthens our commitment to:

- Creating pathways for community connection
- Encouraging creative expression through art and craft
- Supporting health and wellbeing in everyday life
- Developing skills and capacity that build confidence and independence
- Opening doors to music therapy, where rhythm becomes a tool for growth

🎉 Exciting News for Anowah Community Living! 🎉

We are proud to share that Anowah Community Living has been awarded $86,082 through the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership 2025 program for the purchase of a new wheelchair-accessible vehicle.

This vital investment will support our mission to provide safe, accessible, and inclusive transport for people with disability, enhancing independence, connection, and community participation.

We extend our sincere thanks to the NSW Premier and the NSW Government for recognising the importance of inclusive transport options and supporting grassroots organisations like Anowah. Thank you also to our Local members for their support of our application.

With over 3,500 applications received and just over 1,400 approved, we are incredibly grateful to be among the recipients and look forward to delivering on this important project for our community in Horsley Park.

Anowah and Noro Music Therapy are collaborating this August to deliver music therapy sessions that support participant connection, social and emotional learning, friendships, confidence, and creativity — where all are welcome, regardless of ability or experience.

🧡 Come along with your support worker or carer and take part in a relaxed, inclusive space filled with music and expression.

While most research looks at the preferences of people with disability or health conditions, this study recognises the importance of understanding what you prefer — whether that’s person-first language (e.g. "person with a disability") or identity-first (e.g. "disabled person").

If you’re a carer or family member, your voice matters in shaping respectful and inclusive communication. 💛
