Our pups had a fun Christmas morning, and are resting up after a big day running, wrestling and playing at Roxy’s Ranch. 🥰

📚 It’s absolutely imperative that our human practitioners at Good Dog are guided by evidence-based bodies such as Animal Therapies Ltd Codes, and for allied health professionals/therapy dog handlers, their professions accrediting body and their Code of Ethics or Conduct.

📚 A practicing professions Code of Ethics or Conduct could originate from more than one professional body, including:

➡️ Australian Association of Social Work
➡️ Australian Psychological Society
➡️ Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
➡️ The Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
➡️ amongst other professional bodies…

Commitment to a professions or scope of practice’s Ethics or Conduct helps a practitioner and organisation demonstrate:

👉 a commitment to ethical practice and standards, outlined by evidence-based bodies as above
👉 always promoting and enhancing the emotional, psychological and physical safety of all participants - human and canine (or other) alike
👉 performing services always within the scope of the agency, professional individuals practice, and the canines capacity
👉 promoting and maintaining integrity of practice, honesty and professionalism throughout

What is Animal-Assisted Therapy?
Animal-Assisted Therapy is delivered by registered health professionals. Therapists hold a variety of qualifications such as occupational therapy, mental health social work, speech therapy, psychology, counselling, psychotherapy and even developmental education ( allied health) and other qualified health professionals.

These professionals work within the scope of their qualifications alongside animals while maintaining animal welfare and human health and safety.
