We recently hosted an Anaphylaxis Education Workshop for local schools, preschools and childcare centres, supporting teachers and nurses in building confidence to respond in emergency situations.

The session covered early recognition of anaphylaxis, clear response pathways, and practical, real-world scenarios relevant to educational settings.

A key highlight was Dr Clementine David introducing newer approaches to anaphylaxis management, including the use of Neffy® adrenaline nasal spray as an emerging needle-free option for emergency treatment.

Presenters included:
• Dr Olivia Tonge, one of our GP's at Hunters Hill Medical Practice
• Dr Clementine David, Paediatric Immunologist and allergist (www.drclementine.com.au)

At Hunters Hill Medical Practice, our goal is to support the wider community by strengthening education, improving preparedness, and empowering those caring for children with the knowledge and confidence to act when it matters most.

Some farewells are hard to capture in words - so the team did what felt right and spoke from the heart.

In this tribute video, you’ll hear from our doctors (past and present), onsite allied health team, and staff, each sharing a short message for Cheryl as she steps into retirement.

What comes through in every message is the same feeling - gratitude. For the calm she brought to busy days, the kindness she showed so effortlessly, and the way she made everyone feel seen, known, and welcome.

This one is for you, Cheryl 💚

With all our love and appreciation.

After 38 years, we say thank you to someone who has been at the heart of our practice in more ways than one.

Cheryl, our senior receptionist, has been a constant, reassuring presence for generations of patients. She had a rare gift - knowing every name, remembering every face, and making each person feel genuinely welcomed. It’s what made her so deeply valued by both our patients and our team.

We came together this afternoon to celebrate Cheryl alongside past and present colleagues - including Dr Bowes, Dr Keane and Dr Wood, as well as former practice manager Judy and nurse Dee, all of whom were part of her incredible journey over the years. It was a meaningful moment filled with stories, gratitude, and reflection on the impact she’s had across decades of care.

As she begins her next chapter, enjoying a well-earned retirement up the coast, Cheryl leaves behind a legacy that will be felt every day. She will be greatly missed by staff and patients alike.

Thank you, Cheryl, for 38 remarkable years 💚

In light of Dr Ujvala Rao’s recent and incredibly important video sharing her ovarian cancer diagnosis, we’re continuing the conversation by sharing trusted resources from the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

Awareness matters. So does education.

Ovarian cancer symptoms can be subtle and often overlooked, which is why understanding what to look for is so important. Our latest post highlights key signs to be aware of, because early awareness can make all the difference.

We’re also proud to be raising funds for this cause—supporting research, awareness, and better outcomes for women and families affected by ovarian cancer.

On ANZAC Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all who have served and continue to serve.

We remember the ANZAC spirit—bravery, mateship, and resilience—and reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we have today.

Please note our practice will be closed today in observance of ANZAC Day.

Lest we forget.

World Immunisation Week (24–30 April) is a reminder that prevention remains one of the most powerful tools in healthcare.

This week, we’ve set up a dedicated display in our practice to help educate and inform patients about the importance of immunisation at every stage of life.

Vaccination plays a key role in protecting individuals and the wider community — from childhood immunisations through to adult boosters and ongoing protection.

As we head into the cooler months, now is an important time to consider your winter vaccines, including:

• Influenza (flu) vaccine
• COVID-19 booster
• Shingles vaccine
• Boostrix (whooping cough, diphtheria)

If you’re unsure what you’re due for, or want to understand what’s recommended for you, our team is available in-practice to guide you through your options.

Prevention is simple, effective, and worth staying up to date with.

What does the future of aged care actually look like?

This week in Mittagong, Dr Charbel presented to the nurses and staff caring for the retired Marist Brothers — exploring the growing role of health technology and AI in everyday care.

The focus wasn’t hype — it was practical. How technology can support clinical decision-making, improve communication across teams, and strengthen continuity of care for residents with complex needs.

Importantly, it’s not about replacing clinicians — it’s about supporting them.

When used well, these tools can help teams stay connected, respond earlier, and deliver more coordinated, proactive care.

Because in aged care, the future isn’t just innovation for the sake of it… it’s using the right tools to support better care, every day.

RSV season has started—and it’s not one to underestimate.

Cases are rising from April through September, with a sharp peak in June–July. And right now, we’re already seeing more RSV than flu.

For some, it’s mild. For others, it can mean serious illness—especially for:
• Expecting mothers
• Infants and young children
• Grandparents and older adults

The important part? Protection looks different for each group.

There are specific RSV vaccines and prevention options depending on your age and stage of life—this isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Timing matters. Protection is most effective before the peak hits.

If you or your family fall into a higher-risk group, now is the time to act. Speak with your doctor or our nursing team to find the right option for you.
