🍂 Celebrating the seasons in Playgroup 🍂
As the autumn light softens
and the leaves slowly let go,
the season invites us to slow down, to nurture our inner life, and to care for one another.
Children learn so much by watching the adults around them —
how we move gently, share warmth,
and celebrate the beauty of the season together.
Around our autumn table —
pumpkin homes, little figures, golden leaves —
and in the kitchen,
a room filled with warm spices
and the promise of sweet, soft fruit buns.
Moments to pause,
share warmth,
and enjoy the simple joys of the season 🕯️🍂🎑

Morning light spills into the room as children arrive ☀️. At the table, they gently knock on Mrs Dough’s door to wake her 🥖✨️ Flour-dusted hands squish, stretch, and pat the springy dough 🙌🍞 as “crunchy buns” take shape, the warm, comforting smell from the oven filling the room, 🌿🔥 and the eager question—“are the cwunchy buns weddy?”—lingering in the air 👀💛.

Surrounded by nature’s abundance, our playgroup table offers the freshest harvest delights — crisp beans, juicy nectarines, vibrant zucchinis, nutritious kale, fragrant herbs, and colourful flowers.
Families come together to share their surplus, offering the circle of giving and receiving to all of us. 🌿🍎

As the children settle back into the familiar comfort of indoor play, the new year quietly begins for the adults too 🌿
While the children settle into their morning play — building, stirring in the play kitchen, arranging silks and blocks — the parents gather around the craft table. Needles thread, colours are chosen, and each parent begins decorating their craft bag for the year ahead.
In the warmth of the room, with the hum of play nearby, these bags begin their quiet journey. Over the years they will hold handmade treasures, half-finished projects, and the steady rhythm of friendships forming around the craft table.
And when a child is ready for kindergarten, the craft bag goes with them — becoming their bag for spare clothes. A familiar, well-loved companion for a new chapter.
From first stitches to first school days… such a simple tradition, carrying so much meaning 💛

🌿 Nature Stories in Playgroup 🌿
In our playgroup, our stories follow the rhythm of the seasons. As the world outside changes, so too do the tales we tell — bringing gentle pictures of nature’s life for the children to experience.
This week, the children met The Little Wattle Baby, who danced in the soft spring rain beneath her wattle bloom. Through simple stories like this, told with natural materials and quiet gesture, the children come to know the world around them — the rain, the blossoms, the sunlight — in a way that feels familiar, safe, and full of wonder.
Each story is a reflection of what the children see and feel in their daily lives — the weather, the garden, the bush — so their inner and outer worlds can grow together in harmony. 🌼

Our playgroups are for parents and children from birth to Kindergarten age. Each playgroup meets once a week and is facilitated by a Steiner trained playgroup leader who guides the group through the morning’s activities including stories, songs, circle games, bread~making and free play, both indoors and out.
Our cottage is a warm and inviting early childhood space within the grounds of Tarremah Steiner School. Our toys are made from natural materials while the garden is a haven for outdoor exploration. Each family is asked to bring a piece of fruit for our shared morning tea.
Toddler Group Mondays: 9.15 - 11.15am
Our toddler group is for parents with newborns and children up to 2 years. This group offers a calm and nurturing environment for parents to gather, meet and share inspirations. Parents and babies are held in a space of warmth, reverence and acceptance.
Children of this very young age are not developed socially yet. Imitation is the key to developing participation. Parents are the role models as they sing, craft and bake while children weave in and out always able to return to the safe lap of a parent.
Mixed Age Group: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays - 9.15 am - 11.15 am
Our mixed age playgroups offer a warm, play-based program for families with children between birth and school readiness.
We begin our morning with a greeting circle followed by a short nature-based story and circle games. After washing our hands each child is given a piece of dough to make a bread roll to be enjoyed warm and delicious with morning tea. Inside free-play is a precious time for the children to enter deeply in self-directed play while the adults engage in purposeful tasks. Have a cuppa, create with your hands, read or help with morning tea preparations.
Morning tea is a social coming together as a group. A candle is lit and we sing a short song of gratitude. A bowl of fruit is given to each child followed by our warm bread buns. After morning tea it’s time to play outside... A song will call for the toys to be packed away before we come together onto the verandah for our farewell song and bread to take home.
We invite you to join us for a relaxed, joyful time to connect with your child and with each other. To enrol contact Karen on 0488 230 164
