Babies and Toddler Group (birth - 2 years)
Thursday 12.40 pm - 2.40 pm (3 years)
Friday 9 am ~ 11.30 am (2 - 3 years)
The consistent rhythm of the playgroup session provides an environment in which children feel safe to enter their dreamlike imaginative play. Adults have the opportunity to help with morning tea preparations, learn new craft skills to take into the home, and enjoy the company of other adults. We strive to achieve a balance between the social needs of the adults and an awareness of what is happening around the children. ENROLMENT

✨ Term 4 is here already — and we have exciting news! ✨
Fairy Wren Playgroup is 🌱🌸growing🌸🌱! We’re delighted to be welcoming even more families, with a new 🌈Baby and Toddler Group🌈 now meeting on 🧡Thursday mornings🧡 in the Hall foyer.
The holiday period has been a hive of activity 🐝🐝🐝 as we prepared this beautiful new space — ready for 🌾play, songs, breadmaking and shared moments of joy🤗.
This term we’ll be crafting sweet crowns for our children, and enjoying the gentle lead-up to the festive season together 🌟🎄.
The gentle rhythm of our mornings, and the joy we share, become part of the children themselves — small seeds of warmth and trust carried within. 🌿💛

There’s a special kind of magic in the air when the children receive their little balls of bread dough. With flour-dusted fingers, they shape their buns — some carefully, some with wild delight — before placing them on the tray ready for the oven.
As the smell begins to drift through the room, one or two little voices will ask with shining eyes, “Are the cwunchy buns weddy?”
After a gentle wait, we gather to enjoy them warm and golden for morning tea — a moment of simple joy, shared.
Our playgroup spaces are intentionally calm and nurturing, with soft hues that offer rest to the senses. Toys made from natural materials invite open-ended play and rich imagination. Parents engage in simple craft, sharing quiet companionship while the children explore nearby.
Rain or shine, we venture outdoors — jumping in puddles, collecting treasures, and greeting the world in all its changing moods.
These gentle rhythms anchor us, nourish connection, and let childhood unfold as it’s meant to — slowly, simply, beautifully.

Our playgroups are for parents and children from birth to Kindergarten age. Each playgroup meets once a week and is facilitated by a Steiner trained playgroup leader who guides the group through the morning’s activities including stories, songs, circle games, bread~making and free play, both indoors and out.
Our cottage is a warm and inviting early childhood space within the grounds of Tarremah Steiner School. Our toys are made from natural materials while the garden is a haven for outdoor exploration. Each family is asked to bring a piece of fruit for our shared morning tea.
Toddler Group Mondays: 9.15 - 11.15am
Our toddler group is for parents with newborns and children up to 2 years. This group offers a calm and nurturing environment for parents to gather, meet and share inspirations. Parents and babies are held in a space of warmth, reverence and acceptance.
Children of this very young age are not developed socially yet. Imitation is the key to developing participation. Parents are the role models as they sing, craft and bake while children weave in and out always able to return to the safe lap of a parent.
Mixed Age Group: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays - 9.15 am - 11.15 am
Our mixed age playgroups offer a warm, play-based program for families with children between birth and school readiness.
We begin our morning with a greeting circle followed by a short nature-based story and circle games. After washing our hands each child is given a piece of dough to make a bread roll to be enjoyed warm and delicious with morning tea. Inside free-play is a precious time for the children to enter deeply in self-directed play while the adults engage in purposeful tasks. Have a cuppa, create with your hands, read or help with morning tea preparations.
Morning tea is a social coming together as a group. A candle is lit and we sing a short song of gratitude. A bowl of fruit is given to each child followed by our warm bread buns. After morning tea it’s time to play outside... A song will call for the toys to be packed away before we come together onto the verandah for our farewell song and bread to take home.
We invite you to join us for a relaxed, joyful time to connect with your child and with each other. To enrol contact Karen on 0488 230 164
