The role:

Blooms The Chemist Huonville & Huon Arcade has a fantastic opportunity for a passionate, experienced Pharmacy Assistant that is keen to work with a fun, dynamic team environment! This role will best suit someone that is friendly, self-motivated, results driven, and customer-focused.

You will support the pharmacy team by providing personalised customer experience for each of our customers, by providing advice and ensuring they receive exceptional service. This role is Full Time and will be based predominantly at Blooms The Chemist Huonville, with occasional shifts at Blooms The Chemist Huon Arcade.

Your role will focus on:

Actively assisting customers by providing service and product information

Having an eye for detail and accuracy

Organising and maintaining the cleanliness of the store

Refilling stock, setting up promotions and merchandising displays as required

Efficient register service

Completing stock checks

Assisting with the dispensary workflow


We are looking for someone who is:

Positive and customer-focused

Holds an S2S3 or Certificate in Community Pharmacy

Passionate about healthcare

A great communicator

Detail oriented

Super organised and able to multi-task

Willing to learn about pharmacy and develop a high level of product knowledge

Enthusiastic and willing to work in a vibrant, fast-paced environment

Loves building relationships with customers

Pharmacy, healthcare or retail experience

Measles vaccinations for NIP eligible individuals available at Blooms The Chemist Huonville .

If your year of birth is between 1966 and 1992 you are also eligible for a free measles booster.

Updated Measles Alert
A case of measles has been confirmed in a teenager who lives in Southern Tasmania and
spent time in the Huon Valley and Channel areas while infectious. This is the second case of
measles in Tasmania in recent weeks.
Public Health Services are undertaking contact tracing and assessing where they may have
acquired their infection. The case was acquired in Tasmania and at this stage there are no
known links to other measles cases.
A number of exposure sites have been identified. Please see Measles alert – 9 December 2025

Please be vigilant for possible measles cases
Consider measles in symptomatic people, regardless of their age, travel history, or measles
vaccination status.
Classical symptoms of measles include fever, cough, coryza, conjunctivitis, and feeling
generally unwell, followed a few days later by a red, maculopapular rash. The rash typically
starts on the face before spreading down the body. Symptoms can develop between 7 to 18
days after exposure.
Measles in previously vaccinated people may present atypically, with milder symptoms and a
slower, or altered progression of the rash.
If you suspect measles
• Fit the patient with a face mask and isolate them in a separate room in your clinic, ideally
with airborne precautions. Only staff who are fully vaccinated should continue to have
contact with the patient.
• Immediately notify Public Health of a possible clinical diagnosis of measles and seek
further advice on testing and contact tracing by calling the Public Health Hotline on 1800
671 738. Select option 4 and ask to speak to a Communicable Diseases Clinical Nurse
Consultant.
• Collect appropriate samples to confirm diagnosis. Recommended tests are:
o nose (or nasopharynx) AND throat swabs (respiratory swab with viral transport
media) for NAT. Two separate swabs OR a single swab may be used, provided all
swabs are clearly labelled with the sample site(s)
o first catch urine for NAT.
• If more than one week from onset of rash, include serum or plasma for measles serology
