To whom it may concern,
I would like to appeal to you for assistance in supporting much needed surgical trips to the South Pacific.
As Co-Chair of DAISI, I and twenty-six other surgeons from Australia and New Zealand regularly travel to islands in the South-Pacific, such as Vanuatu, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, to perform urgently needed major surgical procedures and cancer surgery. This service otherwise is simply not available.
With all surgeons and specialists covering the cost of their own flights, accommodation and working voluntarily, and with several scheduled trips per year, as you can imagine this represents quite a significant financial burden to all our volunteers. Up until now, there has been no funding provided by the Government
DAISI (Doctors Assisting in South-Pacific Islands) is a not for profit, non-government tax-deductible charity registered with the Australian Taxation Office (ID: 51769931239), with all donors receiving a tax-deductible receipt.
I therefore appeal to you to kindly consider sponsoring a surgeon and/or anaesthetist on future surgical trips to the South Pacific to assist with urgent major surgical procedures and cancer surgery. Please be assured that your donation will not only facilitate essential surgeries but also allow us to educate and train local healthcare professionals to assist their local communities.
